Had to laugh at the photo call outside the old ground. The lady with the mop is my Ma, I was married and long gone by then but my younger brother told me that he remembers it being taken. Apparently, Ma, for some reason felt she should not have been on the photo with the likes of Bell et al.
A true blue all her life and ever so modest with it.

That's a great story. Would it be possible to put a photo of her on the site? She attracted some attention in the comments section of the piece and it would be great to finally show who she was.

My brother is going to see if he can find it. Ma died in 2009 so I cannot verify the story but another story that is true is when she was interviewed at Maine Rd about the resident ghost that allegedly roamed the stands. I think the programme was "Ripleys..Believe it or not".

That would be fantastic. I wrote a piece about the Maine Road ghost a few years ago. He was called "Fred" apparently.

This is really a great site. It's good to see a another site reflecting on our fantastic history, there just aren't enough available on the net. I've noticed MCFC stats has now totally disappeared, I run http://www.citytilidie.com/ and apart from the odd good blog I don't think there are many others about that just concentrate on our history, unless anyone else knows some other sites.
