a popular misconception about tickets and loyalty points

Pretty sure that's how they decided what your start total was, might be wrong it was a long time ago and a lot of different grounds ago

Can some one put this to bed who had a season ticket then?
1. Were there loyalty points at Maine Road or was it 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,full season ticket holder?
or
2. Were points given for the first year at COMS (As it was then) then those who had a season ticket when we moved were awarded more on top of new season ticket holders? The max being 1500???

i'm sure you started at coms with 1500, i didn't have a season ticket in the last year at maine road so i missed out on it.
we had to all start from scatch from the day we moved to eastlands.

Just to clarify what someone else said, the current loyalty points system came into being at the start of the 2002-03 season, the last at Maine Road. The initial points totals were based on what year season ticket holder you were (1500 points for regulars being the highest) plus 10 points per tracked away league game attended the previous season. As there were 23 away league games played in our 2001-02 promotion season then the maximum points total anyone started with was 1730.

What, you did not get points for being at getting beat 6-0 at Derby away or the same score line at the Swamp? or on a high note beating Spurs away 1-0. I am not worthy of such debate. Those who watched the Pearce team are now more worth of York Away and beyond

The current system started in 2003-04.

The games were tracked from Norwich away onwards in Aug 2001, but it also included home and away cup games.

so when it started some people had just under 2k.

Correct, I've just found the info on the last page of my points history. The 190 tracking points are from the previous season.

190 Tracking Points From Synchro System Purchase 06/07/2002 00:00:00

It works for some and not for others.

I have had a season ticket since 1979, I was 14 and have renewed every year since. Did as many away games as I could through the years but in 1998 had my first child. Next one followed in 1999 and that put the brakes on most of my away trips. Still manage a few each season but now I am approaching 50 I just don't get to that many away games. I am in all the cup schemes and Platinum in the belief that it will reduce the speed at which I get further away from qualifying criteria.

Am I loyal? Yes. Do I deserve to get tickets for Ajax away? probably. Unfortunately I was born 10 years too early to enjoy the current system.

However, the system is as fair as its going to get without perhaps the option to opt in to purchase in advance of the release of the tickets and get 'loyalty points' on the basis of submitting an application not getting a ticket. The current system puts you further behind purely on the basis of availability not the desire to attend.

Cant be exactly right as we aint played leeds or Millwall since loyalty points came in.

wrong actually, leeds played the first season at the etihad, and millwall away was the year away fans were banned and they awarded loyalty points for the screening at maine road, i never got any, i went to the new den.

OK Leeds (Cant remember will take your word) Millwall though we never got loyalty points at Maine Rd!!! Points first came in when we moved and those who had a season tickets were awarded some depending on how long you had a ticket for

You can log in to your account and trace all your loyalty points right back to Maine road. Makes very interesting reading actually!

I am one of those that the OP doesn't think exists. I watched City through the 90's and went all over the country. I've been to 70 plus ground with City. Now I do About 4 or 5. (7500 pts in case you wonder)

Why?

Cost of modern day footy.

Today, is too commercialised

I used to take my daughter, including travel for less than one ticket now

I could afford it but it does stick in the throat somewhat.

Exactly the point I was trying to make on another thread. I know I'm guaranteed a ticket for every away game we play. My loyalty points have been built up by years of blood (Leeds & Millwall spring to mind), sweat & tears (frequently when we were shit). I did question my sanity at times, never stopped me going though. Now it appears to be our time in the sun, I wouldn't sell a ticket for pretty much anything.

exactly right.

Mick getting a bit pissed with your smart arsed comments recently you were not complaining when i sold you a derby ticket a whlie back at there place .Pot Kettle Black
