A proper discussion...what made you support city?

Sven!

Gotta love the guy, he's a player of the highest order :)

Notts County became my 2nd team yesterday lol!

Nelson Mandelaa's a blue! Just seen him with CITY shirt on SSN with number 91 on it and the squad singing happy birthday to him! Awesome!

used to be taken to rag trafford by the guy next door who was a scout for them so got free tickets but was never into it players bar everthing but when i was 10 my mates asked if wanted to go and watch city i did. i walked up ths steps at the back of the kippax and up into the stand and the hairs on the back of my neck stud on end this is it iam home been goin ever since 42yrs.

I thought "Manchester City" sounded cool when I was 6.

I like blue teams, and don't like red teams (except, of course, for my Phillies, but that was pre-ordained at birth).

City were on American TV more than most clubs during my formative years (I have no idea why).

Paul Power's goal at Villa Park in '81 sealed the deal initially.

Meeting so many wonderful City fans over the years, including a postman from Heywood named Arthur Garder, who used to spend money he didn't have to send me all sorts of zines, scarfs, hats, whatever, cemented the relationship forever.

I'm not much of a front-runner, so I'm not sure how I'll hold up under the weight of all these league titles to come. That's a chance I'm willing to take, though.

i know athur and still go to the match with the heywood blue and his son nigel is one of my best mate i remember arthur buying scarfs for us and he would alway get one extra and as you would i asked why and he said for a blue he knew in u.s . when i see him next i'll tell him you was asking about him.

i never liked football until i was about nine, i only would have followed who my peers would try to influence me with ( pool, rags!). i realized i needed my own choice of team with leeds and villa popping into the fray momentarily. in time i found myself disliking the winning teams and i needed an original choice.... city it was....and after all the slagging, there was no return. it made me love man city more- if i was to pin point it i d say it was when we beat man utd five one,i think(correct me if i m wrong) it was hughes who scored for utd..... oh it`s a funny ol` game!

My dad first took me Vs Arsenal 1976. We beat them 3-1. After the match we went to Tommy Ducks in town. I was only a kid and remember being told to sit quietly in the corner whilst I listened to all these big men talk about the match and how great City were. I remember later in the evening after about 12 cokes, I could here a drunk outside singing "we all agree, Manchester City are magic,...we all agree, Man utd are tragic" I could hear his singing getting loader as he aproached the pub, and then get quieter as he repeated his song and walked further on.
Wow that was it for me, We beat Arsenal, I get as much free coke as I could stomach I got to stay up late, and went to the pub like a real man (I was only 8 at the time) clearly the whole world (including my dad) were blues, as I had witnessed it in Tommy Ducks, and heard them all outside. Fuckin magic. I still here that drunk in the back of my mind sometimes.
We all agree, Manchester City are magic

I support City because of my Dad. He wanted to be different to his 5 brothers so he chose to support City.
The whole of my family are Reds with the exception of my Dad and I.

I bet thats really interesting when you all get together for xmas. I can imagine you and your dad have had to put up with all kinds of crap over the past 2 decades. No more my friend the tide is slowly turning and I bet you can't wait to see your uncles this year.

I never liked football as a kid.

My dad supported City so if I was asked I always said City but I didnt really care.

When I was about 13, on a sunday morning, my dad was going to get some bacon for breakfast and I went with him.

We got part way there and my dad said asked if I wanted him to show me Main Road.

I wasnt really bothered but didnt want to upset him so said '....errrr ok then'

We got there and we walked around to a part where you could see between the stands.

I could see the pitch and as I stood looking at it my dad started telling me about the games he had been to.

Telling me about Bell, Summerbee and Franny Lee.

I could imagine the roar as they scored and I just kept looking at the grass and though about how many trophies we had

won on that grass and I wanted to see it for myself; I wanted to hear the crowd go wild and feel what it was like.

The next week I asked my dad to take me to a match and from that moment on I was hooked.

Seeing the players made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end and made me tingle inside (it still does) it really did

bring a lump to my throat as I saw our strikers going at the oppositions defence and them backing off and backing off

before BANG - 2-0 up.

Utterly amazing feeling and it still feels just as amazing today.
