A remarkable 9 years ago today!

I had forgotten that Stoke beat Bolton 5-0 in the other semi-final (a post war record) to secure their only FA Cup Final appearance.
Amazing the opposite directions that 2 of our Premier League rivals at that time have gone(Stoke and Bolton),in complete contrast to City who used the FA Cup win as the start of becoming the team of the decade.

Tevez was the named captain at that time. Vinny stood in for the semi as Tevez was injured. Think Vinny got the job officially that summer. Kompany had developed into a top draw centre half under Mancini and become a real leader. Hard to imagine only a couple of years he'd signed as and played as a defensive midfielder.

IIRC Tevez remained captain until he self combusted away at Bayern.

Great story mate... and as for the above... oh yes I've been there. Oldham fans telling me that City were the 3rd best team in Manchester!!!

Funny most of those saying it have been to Boundary Park less times than me in the last 20 years

We had the same thing at our school. Suddenly Oldham fans started to spring up early 90s and to a man they all supported United previously. Needless to say they have all reverted back now.

I don't think I've ever been so nervous watching City in those final minutes defending that slender lead. If we had capitulated it would have been torture facing our rag associates on the Monday morning.
Yup, me too.. Watching with all my family and friends that day at Wembley I regressed back to the spotty herbert who travelled up to Newcastle in '68 to hope against hope that we didn't screw up and gift the title to United.. Since my Dad first took me to Maine Road in '59 I've seen all the highs and lows apart from the Cup Winners' Cup in Vienna but those two days seeing us win a title for the first time in my life and then seeing us break that hoodoo that had been over us since the League Cup in '76 were probably the most nervous I've ever been watching City (and that includes being at Stoke for the 5-2 win when we got relegated to the Third Division) Great day, great memories.. especially that fulminating drive from Yaya to win it for us.. the roar that came from us City fans was primal, I swear!

Yeah I remember the days of Latics fans taking the piss! It didn't help that we carried on losing to them even as they dropped down the leagues. I still can't warm to them today and they're my home town club on the brink of collapse.

I remember after the 5-2 game at Boundary Beach when David White scored a hat trick going in to school the next week and one of the Junior 4 girls did an assembly about how rude and obnoxious the City fans were! Seemed like everyone was looking at me and tutting as everyone knew I was a blue! Shes still a prick

I remember City going there plenty of times taking the piss so the latics have got fuck all to take the piss on. The famous ladder match Easter ‘84 springs to mind.

I was shitting it every time Stoke got a throw in as Rory Delap made every throw the equivalent of a corner/free kick.
Fortunately the defence soaked up any and all of his flat trajectory throws (Vinny,Joleon and Micah using their height) and any threat was quickly nullified.
Also had Kolarov at LB who is tall plus Yaya and Balotelli who are also tall. Barry is also about 6 foot. Easy to forget what a "big"team we had then.
