A spellchecker can't disguise an idiot...

Dyslexia is something I will probably never understand. It's increasingly used as an excuse for poor spelling.

Imagine you have dyslexia. I tell you that 'lose' is spelt with one 'o'. I make you write this down 100 times, and then recite 'lose' has one 'o' 100 times. Surely then you've learnt it? Next time you need to write 'lose' you'll think: 'I know there's only one 'o' in lose because I was taught that.'

My point is that if you are taught that a word is spelt a certain way, writing it the wrong way is down to poor memory rather than 'dyslexia' isn't it? I'm absolutely not having a go at dyslexics here - I would appreciate it of one could help me understand the condition.

If you're going to pull posters up on spelling and/or grammar, you have to write everything perfectly or you just look like a dick.

On a internet forum where we all talk openly i don't see why spelling is such an issue, its like if your down the pub with mates having a conversation and constantly pulling your mates up because they have not pronounced a word right - you would rightly get told to fuck off you boring t*at !

Yes spelling is important and if i was to write a letter, CV etc i would check very carefully my spelling - but on here does it really matter ?

If someone highlights a previous poster on there spelling its very tedious.

Are you sure that's how you spell tedious?

Yet another pointless thread from the forum's leading basket case.
A predictable Trojan horse OP so that this time he can air his ignorant,ill-informed and outdated views on dyslexia.
The last pillock to question the validity of this condition was BB2,who was also a race-obsessed bigot.
I smell a big fat strawberry blonde rat.

The OP is right, there's not many spelling mistakes in the above post but you can clearly tell he's an idiot as he suggests making dyslexics write down every word ever over a hundred times in order to cure them.

Me, I don't mind the dyslexics so long as they do whatever they do behind closed doors and don't try to tell me how to live my life.
