What tactic would you like them to use?It’s perfectly reasonable to care about the environment, do your bit and support the principle behind groups like Insulate Britain but at the same time, disagree with their tactic of protest.
To suggest anything else is an extreme view imo.

They could always protest in a legal way like hundreds of thousands of others do.
Blocking the highway and gluing yourself to vehicles and the road is against the law and always has been.
They knew that, fully expected to be arrested and probably jailed and now it’s happened, some are acting shocked by it?
I just don’t get it as a tactic for their protest it’s that simple. It has not worked for them as a group and it certainly hasn’t worked for the individuals now sat in prison.
The problem though is nobody would give a seconds notice to a protest which wasn't really affecting anybody. A few dozen folk just standing in a street somewhere with placards would just quietly be swept under carpet and forgotten about, certainly wouldn't prick the publics conscious.They could always protest in a legal way like hundreds of thousands of others do.

To get attention to a cause usually needs something that will grab headlines.
Not going to argue the rights or wrongs of this particular protest but I can understand why they've chosen to do what they've done.

Maybe they could do it in the privacy of their homes so the placards wouldn't be a distraction to car drivers? Some may have an accident. Sniff.

And it took me less time on my phone to Google how inadequate the scheme is which would come as no surprise to anyone but a Govt stool.
My only surprise is you seem to have turned into one.
We live in a country where most folks are more concerned about a Z list celeb doing a ballroom dance on TV than the planet we live on and the environment we create.
If some pillocks want to knock people that actually care and are actually willing to incarcerate themselves then they can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.
They will ultimately fail because of people like you. But I certainly won't knock them for at least trying.
Some people got to work late. Great priorities the public have.
