A thread about protesters

ahhhh the old chemo appointment defence eh? What they are highlighting is BIGGER than the suffragettes. Had women not got the vote there was no danger that our home planet would have become uninhabitable as a result. Thats what mankind faces. You can put up all sorts of facile arguments against protests but at the end of the day they are designed to cause inconvenience and make people think.
The absolute claptrap here is off the scale, 'Facile arguments?'
These protests are life threatening FFS, if some bearded middle class wankers jump in front of vehicles doing 70. and dozens of people get killed and injured, will you still be defending them?
This isn't a fucking CND march for god's sake, what these imbeciles are doing is deadly, already people are in hospital because of them.

How many lives are under threat by their actions? How many people live on the planet? Thats the calculation.

Oh and its ok for people to go back to work and not wear masks on public transport etc so we have 30k+ new cases and 150+ deaths in a day from Covid but its irresponsible for a few people to stage a protest on a motorway?

The North didn't invade the South at the start of the war. The war was started by the South, and it was all about preserving slavery.
If this is a demonstration of your knowledge of history you really weren't paying much attention when you learnt it. Either that or you've been reading some revisionist nonsense written by some white supremacists.
I know who started it, and why the North invaded, and the North didn't invade citing that the reason they did was to end slavery. So it's you that needs a history lesson, instead of cosying up to nutters like this topic is about.
How many more times, we all Know the South supported it, but you are completely ignoring the fact that the reasons for the Northern incursion, and the subsequent first battle of Bull Run, had Jack Shit to do with it, that came later in 1863.

You are a far left headcase mate, what's with the deflection shit about about Covid now? This is about lunatics causing mayhem and endangering lives, Do you and your ilk think, actually believe, that the public is behind you and these clowns?

I see that the 'Ordinary people ' that the gluer in chief, (he lives in an uninsulated house), was claiming to be amongst them, are not really as ordinary as most of us.
The 'Brickie' is actually the owner of rental properties with a portfolio of, and you couldn't make this up, uninsulated houses. Check out some of the others.

Lunatics? People who's interest is in saving the planet are lunatics?

Because of this bullshit, that was countered by @Blue Mist

Plus, you repeatedly ignore the actual events, the reasons, and the facts, Lincoln did NOT invade the South proclaiming it was to repeal slavery, as you are inferring. You will flounder, then revert to changing the subject, and probably divert onto something else, so I'll leave you with your theories.

I posted declarations of secession from the Southern states which stated their reasons for secession.

If ever you or @Blue Mist wish to discuss these actual documents, actual reasons and actual facts then happy to do so.

For your information, the South triggered the military conflict.

The event that triggered war came at Fort Sumter in Charleston Bay on April 12, 1861. Claiming this United States fort as their own, the Confederate army on that day opened fire on the federal garrison and forced it to lower the American flag in surrender.’

So if they set up a machine gun nest on the M62 and start spraying it and oncoming vehicles it's fine by you?
After all, less traffic that's about helps to solve climate change and that can only be for the good of all humanity.
Personally I don't believe they'll do that, but as everything is so critical now, there's only 4 years left to live, an' all that jazz,
it's got to be a consideration don't you think?

Oh, I don’t know. Insulating your home would be a pretty popular option, I imagine.

as long as you think that climate change is a Left v Right thing nothing will change

Yeah, well, I think this argument has run its course, sunk by its own absurdity.

Yes Robert, we know what you copied and pasted, something you do like lightning when confronted, but the facts don't support your assertions. West Dids threw you a lifeline as you obviously didn't know that the South actually started the war, I did, but that wasn't relevant, as he doesn't know much about the rest of it either.
It's no good harping about the South, as explained we know, or should know, their support for slavery, you refuse to acknowledge Lincon's views of it, and the fact that the issue wasn't initially about it.
So, carry on with your mudpies if you like.

What's in gods name is stopping these time wasting ne'er do wells from popping down to B&Q and buying a few rolls of Rock wool and doing the job themselves, rather than causing possible injury and death, general annoyance and the prevention of honest, decent people going about their business and getting to work. As long as these serial protesters find something else to inconvenience us, they'll be happy. Or am I missing something ?

You mean facts like ‘The Declaration of Causes of Seceding States‘?

To be honest, when the South tells you why they seceded and triggered a military conflict, I think it only polite to listen.

I especially liked your ‘It's no good harping about the South...’. Obviously, the South played no role in the conflict what with their declarations of secession, vowing to preserve the institution of slavery and triggering the military conflict. Other than that, the South were hapless bystanders in the face of Northern aggression.

You seem to have got yourself somewhat side tracked from the original point made in this thread that mentioned the American Civil War which was:
"Or copy what they are doing in the US in removing statues of Confederate Generals who waged a war in defence of slavery."
There is absolutely no doubt that the South started the war to defend the institution of slavery in the southern states. The fact that the North's initial war aim was not related to slavery and was to preserve the union does not detract from that initial point. You've built a great big straw man argument related to the war aims of the North which no one was discussing, and you are hoping that everyone has forgotten the original point. Either that or you've forgotten it yourself.

Yes, but don’t worry about it. Loved the ‘ne’er do wells’ and how everyone, other than protestors, are honest and decent. It’s like an Enid Blyton story.

Its a movement to draw attention to insulating houses, not the Great October Revolution. Well, until they start ‘manning machine gun nests’ it isn’t.

Absolute scenes on the M25 this morning as ‘hard working citizens’ encounter strong resistance on their way to work...

some of the people they hold up will be car thieves, tax dodgers, wife beaters and the like not necessarily honest and decent people - is it ok if they out themselves and pull onto the hard shoulder so the protesters can stop them from getting to work?
