A thread about protesters

You, along with the usual suspects are, as per usual, defending the indefensible. There are now numerous stories you are conveniently ignoring about many people experiencing severe distress and health issues caused by these idiots. Sooner than later, it’s obvious people will be killed as a result of these insane actions, then the silence on here will be deafening.

Sorry Onslow, I just thought it might be helpful to point that out before you jump the gun on the manslaughter issue, as it is difficult to prove causation unless they were in direct proximity.

ahhhh the old chemo appointment defence eh? What they are highlighting is BIGGER than the suffragettes. Had women not got the vote there was no danger that our home planet would have become uninhabitable as a result. Thats what mankind faces. You can put up all sorts of facile arguments against protests but at the end of the day they are designed to cause inconvenience and make people think.

Let’s hope India China and America are watching, because they may think they doing good to put the spotlight on what in all honestly everyone already knows but if the those countries don’t take note it’s for nothing..

you can't depend on your neighbours keeping a tidy garden and painting their window frames whilst you neglect your own property and assume that you are benefitting from the same level of increase in value that they are simply by being on the same street. We need to sort out and be seen to be sorting out things at home.

Yes, but don’t worry about it. Loved the ‘ne’er do wells’ and how everyone, other than protestors, are honest and decent. It’s like an Enid Blyton story.

Its a movement to draw attention to insulating houses, not the Great October Revolution. Well, until they start ‘manning machine gun nests’ it isn’t.
Well my attention's been drawn, now what about a movement drawing our attention to something worthwhile, maintenance of gutters and downspouts perhaps. What ever next for these clowns..??

some of the people they hold up will be car thieves, tax dodgers, wife beaters and the like not necessarily honest and decent people - is it ok if they out themselves and pull onto the hard shoulder so the protesters can stop them from getting to work?
We both know that's a pretty lame defence for these idiots, dont we.

Stop putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 10. I'm all for insulating homes in Britain, I've seen no one that is advocating not insulating homes on this forum, yet you and others are concluding this to try and win an argument? which is a bit bizarre.

People fundamentally disagree with the way these people are campaigning and ruining other peoples lives in the process. I reiterate my statement. I am confident you would feel very differently if it were you stuck in queue missing appointments, jobs work meetings and losing money etc.

How many lives are under threat by their actions? How many people live on the planet? Thats the calculation.

Oh and its ok for people to go back to work and not wear masks on public transport etc so we have 30k+ new cases and 150+ deaths in a day from Covid but its irresponsible for a few people to stage a protest on a motorway?
You better get off your PC and get yourself down there with a tube of super glue to join your mates if you feel that strongly.

I wont hold my breath......

Now why would I want to do that? People have been groomed to resist any change - thats why the gas situation is what it is - leave it to the markets they will solve it all. As for people being against these protests - a tiny fraction of the UK population are directly impacted but what it does its brings the situation to the fore for the public as a whole - many people support their cause and will be contacting their MP to encourage action.

I bet more will be contacting their MP demanding that they are removed with force. There isn't much sympathy as far as I can see. I believe they have done more harm to their cause.

I don't really get the commotion about this right now.

These protests are incredibly effective. They've brought the subject of insulating homes onto the front pages of every newspaper for more than a week. The pressure on the government to do something is immense. I know it's frustrating for the people stuck in traffic, but if you're going to make an omelette you have to crack a few eggs.

We're in a precarious time. If we don't start making the right decisions today the world as we know it will be a distant memory within decades. I'm thankful to the protesters that they're forcing a subject like this, just like I'm thankful to anyone who campaigns under XR (who we'll be seeing a lot more of over the next two months).

Personnally I'd like to make my own mind up rather than be dictated to by a bunch of bone idle, time wasters and not inconvenienced against my will.

Yep. The point was to raise awareness of insulating homes. Job done.

These climate protesters in the UK are nuts. We are actually doing a very good job at reducing our emissions, but you would think we as a country were directly responsible for the death of the polar bears the way these loons bang on about it.

In terms of TOTAL CO2 emissions the UK is 17th on the list at 1.03% total worldwide carbon emissions.

China is 1st with a whopping 29.18% and the USA is 2nd at 14.02%. That's nearly half the total carbon emissions from just 2 countries.

Per capita the UK is way down the list with just 5.5 tonnes. China is 7.8 tonnes, but there are millions more people in China and many of them don't live in big cities. USA is unsurprisingly 15.52t, but Canada is higher with 18.58t

The UK IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
