A thread about protesters

Frightening police tactics here, if there is a reason you need to carry out a raid and arrest someone at a residential address, get a warrant.

Is this incidence of police dressing up as posties an indication that they didn't bother? Also claims they are abusing anti-terror legislation, welcome to Adam Sutler's Britain.

That cops kill switched to say kill cops banner side story is straight out of some filler episode of spooks.

What a fucking odd occurence

not sure thats correct. This would mean you could throw a blanket across all the commanders at the protest - and what are they wearing soft caps?

Protestors

I will defend the protestors and i will defend the Police, its not a game between the two, there are no sides.

The Police have been left in the awful position of being defenders of a fucking awful piece of legislation that has to be protested about because it is anti-democratic.

I do not condone violence of any sort from protestors or police but the simple fact of the matter is that neither should be there in the first place and they are only there because of this authoritarian legislation and the behest of a government sliding into dictatorship.

It should not be the Police's job to defend legislation, but they have been politicised and it is disgusting because they are just ordinary lads and girls just like all of us doing the best job they can under dreadful circumstances.
These sort of people throwing bottles and sticks and shouting “fuck the Police” turn up to every protest that ever gets going. They’re there to attack Police officers and stir up trouble. They’re part of the reason this legislation has been brought in.

Who are these sort of people? If they turn up at every demo across the country, then there has to be a pretty sophisticated organisation and there has to be sizeable numbers. They have to work in tandem for maximum effect, so who are they and who directs and funds them?

I'm sure you'll agree that political violence is a means to an end and not an end in itself, so once you've told us who these people are, what group or groups they're a member of, perhaps you might enlighten us as to the endgame? What are the groups aims? What do they want?

using that argument means that this is a sledgehammer to crack a nut - target that disruptive group not all protests and protesters. You could cure pollution and deaths on the road by banning all private cars but no-one would think such blanket legislation made any sense.......

Considering attacking the police is a criminal offence already, and the laws cover them being bellends already this law isn't really necessary.

What this bill does do is stop genuine protest against your government or othe parties that may abuse their power.

Plus those that do go to cause trouble, won't be put off by this, but more committed to cause anarchy.

I cannot believe any football fans, already treated like second class citizens by some forces would like to see them get even more unchecked powers.

The Spycops bill is bad enough already, adding this extra power to Stop legitimate protest is, in my opion very dangerous a way to go.

Does this bill stop undercover cops shagging the good looking ones?

But Legislation that stops one person protesting about lack of access to his own children following a divorce? And then places a potential 10 year prison sentence on that offence?

Sledgehammer to crack a nute mate.

They did have a warrant. 5th paragraph of the story, read it again.

Why can’t they have protests and have them self organise it!? Seen when there is police there some protesters are there just to have a go at them!

Or somebody couldn't understand why police with a warrant needed to trick their way in? That probably includes the judge that issued the warrant.
No. It happens all the time and Mags Court justices who issue them know it. Its a non story, some protestors have taken the hump thats all. This is a daily event

What? Police lying? I could understand it on a drugs bust, or looking for weapons, but were they hoping to stop someone flushing a flyer down the loo?

Exactly. It's not like the housemate can lie about the person being there and turn them away, they are going to search the whole property anyway. And there aren't usually many alternative exits they can escape out of in shared student accommodation.

There is no lying involved. The courts that authorise warrants, or decline them, know how the execution of warrants work. When swearing out warrants there are often several issues that they want assurances about and those are generally how much fuss will be caused in getting into a house, whether any kids are going to be inside and how much force may be needed in getting in. They love it when they are assured that the answer to those questions are probably none, or minimal hassle. So for a court to be told that one of the bobbies will be carrying a parcel like an Amazon delivery driver in order for the door to be opened is music to their ears. Far from being outraged or tricked or lied to, it is actually a preferred option and they like it. As I said, this is a total non story.

Either your definition of lying is different from what's in my dictionary or that's a Clarkie.

Don't the police warn about letting "officials" into your home without proper identification?
