A thread about protesters

The head of extinction rebellen said if someone was dying in an ambulance he wouldnt move out of the way, nice
Kaz, i have said that i would do exactly the same to stop nuclear weapons being in this country.

By minimalising a protest to its lowest denomination you can possibly end up in a very bad place as protest is a quintessential part of democracy and I see protest being squashed because of the sensationalism surrounding one mans true convictions. Only a person who has never held a true conviction and has really felt the need they had to protest against something they considered abhorrent can be so vacuous to believe that all protest should be quashed.

As yourself this question. If tomorrow it was decided that all people called Kaz would no longer be allowed to communicate in any form with any other person on any platform or in person, just because you were called Kaz. Would you accept that? Would you just roll over and say OK?

Or ask yourself another question, what if the Government decided that all people over the age of 60 should be euthanised so they can save on pensions. Would you lie down in front of ambulances then or would you just say fair enough and queue up to die.

Hannah Arendt said "that in a society where people are not informed, where misinformation rules, a totalitarian or any dictator can rule with ease." Take away protest and it is a step to totalitarianism. The fact its that lunatic Priti Patel trying to do should make everyone very scared.

And I actually agree with their view on the climate emergency, just not how they’re protesting about it.

Its all just so bloody pointless until someone brings China into line and who is going to do that?

Not just China actually. It is worrying to me that the remaining 30-40 years of my life are going to be made increasingly financially more difficult (because of the mindset of Mrs Johnson) and at times disrupted by twats like these, when there is no actual benefit from any of it. Free movement of people may have ended, but what about free movement of pollution!

How can you be so selfish?

How can you be so selfish?

Eh? I go to work day in day out, pay my taxes, struggle through life.

The eejits that are blocking the motorways are the selfish ones.....

My point about China remains though. Or should I give up my 21st Century lifestyle and live like feudal times whilst a billion Chinese stop riding bicycles and start driving cars (cos they can now) and fuck up the planet anyways.

These virtue signaling tossers should glue themselves to the roads going into Shanghai if they are that bothered about saving the planet, I bet the Police wont stand around doing nothing if they did that though, by-the-way.

1. I was quoting the lady in the white gas guzzling mercedes who moaned at the protestors.

2. You were moaning about it costing you more and not receiving any benefit yourself.

Why is that not selfish?

Apologies, I misunderstood.

All I'm trying to say is I'm happy to accept changes and indeed constraints on my life because climate change is a massive issue. BUT it just seems so pointless whilst a relatively small country like this (and one which has shifted from a manufacturing based economy to one based mostly on services and financials) is doing stuff, whilst other places, China I have named, but there are others, continue to pollute the atmosphere.

Sounds like you need to move to China.

But China is changing. They are shifting to green energy production

China is the world's leading country in electricity production from renewable energy sources, with over double the generation of the second-ranking country, the United States

They are also heavily investing in electric vehicles.

Who is this Johnson loving fool spouting convenient lies to plaster over the governments misgivings?

And, why do I tune into Sky, they’ve fucked us all.

I do hope you were being sarcastic?

No. I'm not.

It’s a lazy argument and it is also hypocritical when we consume products produced in China because US and European companies have outsourced to China to reduce production costs.

China won't be acting as if nothing will happen if they ignore climate change.

The Communist party can issue diktats down the chain of command and people fall in line.

Over in the west we have the "problem" of democracy and civil liberties so we perform worse on issues of collective action. Just look at respective responses to coronavirus.

Remember the outrage when Farage was milkshaked? The guy spraying the ink is committing an assault on TV. If the protestors seek for the Police to charge him then the fact that he had the ink with him in a bottle designed to spray means he is "going equipped" to commit the crime and is an aggravating factor that would influence the sentence

Good point. He is worse than that bloke who got done for milkshaking Farage, he just so happened to be there holding a milkshake at the opportune time.

Mr Inky seems like a total ****. I suppose the sight of a vicar in blue ink doesn't disprove the stereotype of the crusty professional protesters ... ;)

Personally I would ask the RAC/AA/ Highways Agency to find another route for all those who cannot pass these wankers and just leave them there to piss and shit in their knickers/boxers and let the twats freeze to death overnight.
I`m surprised some MP hasn`t put this forward for a debate in the HOC.

Nope... the elected party spent PMQs asking each other whether they would be eating Cheese Toasties ...... useless

Aside from the fact that Farage is a tit and probably deserves a slap every now and then, was he acting in a way that was disrupting the daily routine of many ordinary folk when he got milkshaked?

I'm not sure why you always have to bring your hatred of right-wing politicians into the argument. There was just as much outrage, if not more so, when John Prescott got a bucket of ice cold water dumped on his head at the Brit Awards by Danbert Nobacon some years back.

Probably because Prescott was deputy PM whereas Farage is a no-mark grifter
