A trip down memory lane around Manchester....

Getting the 53 bus from Trafford Bar to Great Western Street to get to Maine Road
Queuing up outside Hime and Addison on John Dalton Street overnight for tickets to see Led Zepp, The Who etc. Always saw the same faces
Queuing up outside Maine Road overnight for tickets for the Derbies
The fights at lunchtime between us from Stretford Grammar and those from Greatstone Road at the Top Rank bowling alley on Greatstone Road - now a B & Q, in between it was the HardRock /Village concert hall/disco
Manchester Exchange/Victoria having the longest railway station platform in the world
Drinking beer on the bridge over the River Mersey at the Jackson's Boat pub when I was 14 and riding home on my bike
Trainspotting (steam trains) around all the sheds - Trafford Park, Agecroft, Patricroft, Newton Heath, Stockport, Longsight etc.....

When me and my mates first started going to clubs we were 17, we could only ever get into Rotters. Not bad because it was easy enough to walk down from Hulme. Really enjoyed it but every now and again we'd bump into lads from Liverpool or Wigan, etc and the night would end with a bit of bloodshed, usually ours! Happy days

I often wondered why they pulled down the flyover at the end of deansgate/ mancunian way.

Used to love that flyover, there was one point of it going towards Deansgate that if you really put your foot down you could take off.
Code:

The 94(?) bus, top deck going over the fly-over, it was a proper white-knuckle ride!

It was always Afflecks Palace for me. I'd buy magic tricks I could never perform from the stall on the top floor and buy posters and badges lower down. The Colosseum is also sadly missed. Does anyone know what happened to The Rock Stop t-shirt shop? They moved to another place but I couldn't find it last time I was wondering around the Northern Quarter.

I just remember it as a normal department store. And there was no "northern quarter.

Was it called Affleck & Browns before?

The northern quarter. Doesn't sound like anything I remember from oldham st. Was always a shithole. Great chippy on tib st though.
