Am I the only one who preferred the brunete one ?
Little known fact about Anni-Frid (the brunette)
She is not Swedish, she is half Danish half German, her father was a German SS soldier stationed in Denmark in WW2.
She tried to keep it a secret for years but it came out about 10 years ago, seen it on a documentary

The impact that ABBA made in their ten years or so together was absolutely phenominal , and their music is still heard everywhere ...... they may not have been everyones cup of tea , but they were definitely a lot of peoples , all over the globe ....... they have sold over 370 million records , and are still selling records , even now.

The guys were superb musicians , the ABBA sound was unique , and instantly recognizable , even today 30 years after they split .... and the girls had harmonies that were second to none ...... ABBA , as a band oozed professionalism , and when love eventually soured , things turned difficult , and they themselves began to question their spirit , they called it a day as a foursome.

Like them or loathe them ABBA spelt out sheer genius ....... they will never reform because they know they can never be what they once were , and few people can blame them ..... they had the perfect balance of sex appeal , charm and sheer musical brilliance.

Mamba I'm with you in what you wrote, maybe what I was into at the time but still a great pop sound and band. Back then if you didn't know an ABBA song the old trouser jockey would have been unemployed.
Arrival was an album.
Yes I loved the brunette.
After they called it a day the two lads turned out a musical or two so they had the talent.

Grew up with my mum blasting abba out on the record player! Three kids and 35 yes later, I still sing along to their cd's. True legends!

Could be 'BU' .... although I've always been led to believe that 'Frida' , the only non-Swede in ABBA , was actually born in Northern Norway .... and Wikipedia , and her biography , appear to back this up. (see extract below)

I watched 'The Chaser' the other week and on one of the questions Bradley Walsh actually reckoned she's from Germany !

From wiki ....

'Anni-Frid Synni "Frida" Lyngstad was born in Bjørkåsen, a small village in Ballangen near Narvik, in northern Norway, to a young Norwegian girl and a German soldier, Alfred Haase (1919 – January 2009), just after the end of the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway. Lyngstad's father returned to Germany when his troops were evacuated.

From Fridas biography ....

Singer. Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad was born on November 15, 1945, in the small town of Ballangen in northern Norway. Her father, Alfred Haase, was a young sergeant in the German Army who arrived in Ballangen in 1943 during World War II. Although he was already married, Haase met a pretty young Norwegian girl named Synni Lyngstad and wooed her with a bag of potatoes—a rare and valuable commodity in wartime Norway. Synni reciprocated with a gift of whale meat, and the pair struck up a relationship. Eventually Synni became pregnant, but after the war ended Haase left Norway before his daughter was born

I knew it was one of the Scandinavian countries, the area around Narvik sounds plausible, what a coincidence my Dad fought at Narvik he was on HMS Warspite when they sailed up the fijord and sank half the Kraut navy (or so he kept telling me)

A bag of potatoes pmsl, wonder if that would work in Ashton, my mate cant trap anywhere even in The Prince Of Orange, dont think the old slappers in there will have any whale meat to give back though, although you never know in there !

I never have any success chatting to women

They made really good popular music.

Even I liked them and just a couple of years later I was into punk and ska.
