abide with me

Thank God it's not Jerusalem or I wouldn't be able to cope as that was played at Grandad's funeral. This will be bad enough as I know I'll be wishing he was there as he is the reason I am a blue. I'll be belting it out teary eyed I'm sure!!!

I don't think I could sing more than a few words before blubbing like a little girl. It was played at my grandad's funeral, who actually supported Stoke, so that's even more poignant, and its been played at every final since 1927 (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EkJGUZ1aX8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EkJGUZ1aX8</a>)

I'm a die-hard atheist and the words mean nothing to me but just the history of it and being at Wembley surrounded by my loved ones and thousands of fellow blues who have been through the same rollercoaster ride over the years, and many who aren't with us any more, will make it a very emotional moment.

Already am....it was one of my lifetime ambitions to sing Abide With Me at Wembley....as if I was singing it, I'd be watching my beloved MCFC in the Cup Final.
My lifetime ambition too. Will reduce me to tears

Every year I watch it on TV and it brings a tear to the eye

I'll be crying my eyes out if I manage to get a ticket

One thing that's pissed me off in recent years is they always have some flavour of the month "opera" singer belting it out through an absurdly loud sound system. I think it was just a brass band back in the day and you could hear the crowd singing and it was lovely to see.

Mods can we make this a sticky. it would be absolute class for City fans to hold their scalves up and sing this. Great mark of respect both for the FA cup and all the blue lads and lasses who are no longer around to see the game.
