AC Arles-Avignon & Man City (possible link-up)

Just had a look at Arles squad list for this season so far and it looks like they are a team that wil give youth a chance if its good enough. Here's a youngster that has been given a chance and seems to have grasped it with both hands.

Marvin Esor, 20 year old French defender who has played in all 9 games totalling 726 minutes playing time.

Look at the Welsh lad we've just signed, he's from a lower league team. As was Richards, Sturridge. Im sure if you go through City's youngsters alot of them will have been signed from lower league team's, as is the case in most countries.

But thats my point, the lower leagues will often have golden nuggets that get snapped up by the big boys, but its usually the odd one from here and there. So unless AC are a reknown academy that attract players from other french clubs, hence a one-stop(ish) shop for City, what is the benefit to us?

Well Arles have started the season quite well and maybe they have the potential to become a good Ligue 1 side. If this is the case then they will become one of those clubs i spoke of and start taking on the youngsters from these lower teams.

Also, it gives our youngsters the chance to get some first team football and also helps out with work permit issues if we are interested in signing a player from South America or Eastern Europe.

There are many advantages to having a club onside like this one.

Time will tell mate, as i say the geographical benefits are obvious enough but even then, there are plenty of other southern french clubs. My OP was merely a question as to what they are all about and while i can see that they are no bum set-up, i still dont see a great deal for city.

But i do have every faith that our top boys have seen something that will indeed benefit both camps, and if it happens all will soon be revealed, and il shut me gob!

I assume that the benefit is future loans of our young players to them so it is to the benefit of our youngsters future development and gaining experience in a foreign country and the future success of AC Arles-Avignon.

and also we can duplicate another academy in france (through acAA). this wont just atracct the rejects because they can register for us!

Think its a fair point to raise Chelt Blue, but as you say our guys are top draw so I wouldnt worry.Auxere are a small club who have held their own in Ligue 1 for some time under Guy Roux initially so I think its more important that we have some say in coaching standards. We need a Frenchman with Welsh roots.
