Academy Pathway to the First Team

They are no more special than Foden, who got his chances when he earned them, and had to wait until he was good enough.

It might be a farce of a season to you, but to Pep and everyone else at the club it's a very real, very serious season that they want to do well in and pick up trophies, not write it off as a season when we didn't do well but the youth got more chances than usual.

Pep has much bigger fish to fry. He's got to get players back fit after injury layoffs, he's got 2 or 3 badly out of form players he needs to play into form, he's got a CL group he has to finish top in, and an attack that needs to create more without David Silva.
I understand the need to win, regrdless of the situation.....but what is happening right now isn't working too well....so try something different,it might just work, especially in a dead rubber.

So let's just forget about getting people like Aguero and Fernandinho back from injury, Sterling and Bernardo back in form and see if some children do better?

Agree - when you have 20+ senior players on big money then you will always have some of them that need game time to get fitness and retain form. Pep will be thinking that he needs these players to be ready - they are the ones he will turn to when injuries hit or when the fixtures pile up.

If our squad players were shit then fair enough - but there are none of them that you can say are not up to it and where you might as well go to the youth option. If we get to the end of the season and we are still in various cups and contention for the league it is players like Zinchenko and Fernandinho who would come in if we needed them. And if we win stuff on the basis these players come in and have enough fitness and form to do what is needed then everyone is happy.

Children? lol

Sterling is playing like a donkey,Zinchenko the same,Mahrez one good game in a Blue Moon,Gundogan patchy at best,Aguero not fit,Dinho leaving in a few months,Garcia? fuck knows.....

I'm not talking about playing them from the start in important Prem games,i'm talking playing them in a meaningless Chumps game or coming on for 20 mins when we are comfortable in games - they are good enough and their presence would be beneficial in every respect.

Out of interest, how do you see there progression?

I think Doyle could have played a bit more this season, and last season after the restart. He started a league cup game against a strong Southampton team 13 months ago and did well but since then he's only made 3 brief sub appearances and one start against Bournemouth this season. At the same age Foden had made over 35 appearances so you can't really compare their trajectories.

Yep,he isn't getting a deserved opportunity. There have been several where he could have played, but nada.

Sorry, you actually think they should have played in that match yesterday after seeing how Porto played? You wanted them to play against diving cheating bastards who were putting in horrendous tackles all night and trying to get people sent off? That wasn't a game for kids.

Also, don't call it meaningless when it's not, top place in the group is not meaningless. Liam Delap is a child, he's not the answer to this team's problems up front.

I do see the very clear and obvious progression that is there and I wrote a massive post showing the progression and the pathway about 3 posts ago in reply to you. I'd suggest you go tell Liam Delap he's made no progress this season, making his debut and getting his first professional goals. Or Cole Palmer the same. I don't think for one second they share your opinion.

Again your great strategy for the season seems to be "The first team isn't playing great, lets fuck off the season and play kids instead of getting the first team back fit and in form".

Last night a couple could have been on the bench,no reason not to.THB could have played instead of Garcia. One could have been on the bench against Burnley too.
The Marseille game is what im referring to for starts.

You havent outlined any progression.
