Academy players leaving

A lot more will follow in the near future too - McGivern, Cunningham, Tse, Smith, Helan, Robinson, Elabdellaoui, Benali, Veseli, Nimely, Razak Nuhu... none of these have any sort of future at the club, most are now over 20 or nearly 20, and not even close to the first team. More than likely more highly regarded players of recent academy history like Weiss, Boyata, and Wabara have very little chance either. Bunn and Roman maybe have some chance but I'm not crossing my fingers. Guidetti, Abu, and Razak are the only ones who look to have a better than 50% chance at this stage out of dozens in the 19-22 age group who have been in the academy.

The U18s look promising but we say that about any generation, it really is impossible to tell until they start going out on loan at senior level. It seems that Suarez and Rekik, who we bought into the academy, are the most well thought of given their early promotion to first team training.
The players in bold would never have even made it even when we were shit apart from maybe nimely who I always thought was pretty good for the reserves. Mee, trippier, ibrahim and players in this bracket are all decent footballers but they would have struggled to make it even before our injection of wealth and now they have zero chance so have to be moved on.
The older youths like weiss, warbara, boyata, abu, razak and guidetii looks good prospects and should be given a pre season to try and impress mancini and see if they are worthy of getting in our squad.
Also seeing players like sturridge, nedum and even ireland who are very good players does make me sad as imo they are better than certain members of our squad who cost us considerbly more.
The policy it seems we are adopting now for young players is buying the best talent around then either putting them in the u18s for a season or going out on loan as otherwise they wouldn't get any game time with no reserve league ( which hopefully we will re enter next season ).

Does anyone know what has happened to Gai Assulin?
Hadn't heard him mentioned for a while.

He's in training again after his loan move to Barnsley collapsed last year due to yet more fitness problems. A bunch of Bundesliga clubs want him on loan and Barnsley might come back for him.

Although we feel for them to a certain extent, it's a cut-throat world at the upper echelons of football, much more so than lower down the leagues, although it exists even there!

Ask yourself (with hand on heart) how many of these players would be considered for a 1st team place at the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, United, Arsenal, Chelsea etc? Not (with all due respect) the likes of Rochdale, Burnley, Leicester, Barnsley, Darlington, Scunthorpe etc.

Only the creme de la creme (and that from what will already be superb talent) will make it to the 1st team squad at City in the future - that's how it is at the top. If you want to sit at the top table, you have to adjust accordingly and that's what City are doing.

We shouldn't get too disheartened though - the standard of young players we produce in the future (truly elite talent) will be worthy of the heights we aspire to and there is a solid and valid reason why City are spending millions on the new infrastructure for our Academy. Over the next ten years, we'll produce some players from within who we will be proud to see wearing the Blue shirt of Manchester City.

I honestly believe that Barcelona and the likes will not be the only ones able to boast of a fantastic set-up.

Manchester City will too.

We're just doing what other top teams do now and poaching other teams promising talent at a young age and bringing them through our academy. I have high hopes for Suarez.

Angus Gunn hasn't gone anywhere as far as I know, we only had the compo figure with Norwich settled just before Xmas.

Jose Pozo wasn't able to officially join the club until after his 16th birthday which was mid-March so the deal may be that he'll arrive for the pre-season.
