Manchester City Sign Ghana Wonderkid Razak Nuhu

Feb 2011

It has been revealed that Premier League rich boys Manchester City are on the verge of signing Ghana wonderkid Razak Nuhu.
It is said that the Eastlands club are swooping from the 20 year-old from the Ghana-based Right to Dream Academy.
It is said that the talented left-back will initially join Norway’s Strømsgodset before moving to City for preseason.
Nuhu told GHANAsoccernet.com: “I very delightednow because things have been sorted out. I am now a Manchester City player by understanding. What I am only waiting for is for the transfer window to arrive and I will join them.

his wiki says he has - which is a puzzle

also anybody know what's happened to these lads?

Angus Gunn
Ashley Smith-Brown
Dominic McHale
Jack Byrne
Marcos Lopes
Gabriel Almeida
Mathias Bossaerts
Jose Pozo

Angus Gunn hasn't gone anywhere as far as I know, we only had the compo figure with Norwich settled just before Xmas.

Jose Pozo wasn't able to officially join the club until after his 16th birthday which was mid-March so the deal may be that he'll arrive for the pre-season.
nevertheless neither appear on the list - it could be the same situation as Razak Nuhu otherwise corrections are required perhaps

The only thing that springs to mind is that the "Scholars" in that list all seem to be over 17, isn't that when they can sign their first pro contract?

It makes me sad to see lots of our youth players leaving, just some examples are onuoha, mee, clayton, chantler, trippier, weiss probably, sturridge, ibrahim probably, just to name a few, most were part of the youth cup winning side, but most were not given a chance in my opinion I reckon trippier would have been a great squad player top have like wise with weiss and clayton.

Maybe they are not good enough, but how can we ever find out if there not given a chance, there seems to be alot of city youth leaving the club atm a lot of them english as well. In addition scrapping the reserve side was the worst mistake ever, players like suarez barely ever play now

hopefully with the new investment we will start to see more youth players in the first team fighting for places.
Karim Rekik, Denis Suarez & Luca Scappuzzi got to play in the carling cup. Abdul Razak played in PL & the carling cup. If they are good enough they will get chances to showcase their talents don´t worry. Suarez is not as good as people believe, yet atleast. Rekik is the best youngster and will feauture alot next year I believe.

you say they got chances, but five minutes here or there isnt exactly a chance, they need full games

Yes, 17 is when you can sign a professional contact but as far as i know, those young players are still at school.

A lot more will follow in the near future too - McGivern, Cunningham, Tse, Smith, Helan, Robinson, Elabdellaoui, Benali, Veseli, Nimely, Razak Nuhu... none of these have any sort of future at the club, most are now over 20 or nearly 20, and not even close to the first team. More than likely more highly regarded players of recent academy history like Weiss, Boyata, and Wabara have very little chance either. Bunn and Roman maybe have some chance but I'm not crossing my fingers. Guidetti, Abu, and Razak are the only ones who look to have a better than 50% chance at this stage out of dozens in the 19-22 age group who have been in the academy.

The U18s look promising but we say that about any generation, it really is impossible to tell until they start going out on loan at senior level. It seems that Suarez and Rekik, who we bought into the academy, are the most well thought of given their early promotion to first team training.

good post, hoping bunn gets a chance, but I doubt it, we rarely seem to play youth players for more than five minutes in the europa league now, they need to be given full games in the carling cup perhaps

Bobby gave boyata games last season no? Then why dont you think he could do the same for the other promising players. Sure we have a multitude of talent in our squad but with financial fairplay approaching, we have to rely on our youth to come through and we will only know if we give them a chance. Guidetti, abu, suarez, razak, wabara and bunn are only really young players. I think bobby will definitely keep them for a few more years and see how they come through. I dont think we will need alot of talent now. Gudietti is only 19 and he can definitely be a fourth striker. I think the others should go on a season-long loan and show how good they can be. Bobby has an eye for talent and Im sure we can trust him to make the right decision regarding our young players. Im not at all worried about this

Plus you have to understand. Will kolo getting older as are barry and lescott, we will surely need at least one good youth player for our defense coming through. Our older players wont be able to play at the same level for the next three years and thats when these kids would be 21 or 22 and they could play a part in our squad.

Lescott is 29. That's not old for a centre-back. He should have years left in him yet. I've heard for years that centre-backs don't really come into the best years of their career until after they're 30.

Terry is a good example of this; he's 33 and is only now starting to look a little past it. Lescot should be alright for at least 2-3 seasons and in his current form, let's hope so.

All still at the club I believe, Bossaerts set to join. Pozo is already here, he's scored a fair few goals for the under-16s already. Lopes was promoted to the under-18s shortly before the end of the season even though he only turned 16 in December. Angus Gunn is supposedly the best English keeper of his generation and far better than his age group hence why he was playing in the NextGen aged just 15. Smith-Brown is the one who the newspapers linked with Barcelona but don't know much else about him, the under-16s are really hard to find information on. A lot of these should be in the under-18s team soon with some of the current under-18s going up to reserve/EDS level.

Atleast they are being involved, and Mancini gets to see them training everyday. I trust his judgement regarding whether they are good enough to deserve more minutes then they have gotten.
