Robert Downey junior in Iron Man and Sherlock Homes.

Never in a million years did Downey jr own Sherlock Holmes. There have been some excellent portrayals of Sherlock down the years, Basil Rathbone on screen, Jeremy Brett on the small screen and more recently Benedict Cumberbatch.
I think of all of those before Robert Downey jr when I think of Sherlock Holmes.

I think some people are misunderstanding the thread. It's not about your favourite actors or your favourite films or even if they were good in the part, but actors who did such a brilliant job at playing a certain role than you can't imagine anyone else doing it.

This is the one I was thinking of as well. I don't think anyone could have played John coffee like Micheal Clarke Duncan did. RIP big man
