Adam Johnson - £7m a snip

I'd be prefer City to play AJ on the left and SWP on the right with Ade down the middle. Bellamy isn't really a left winger. He keeps getting through down the left hand side, but his crosses have been poor.

I've been saying that ever since we signed Johnson .....

you play a left winger on the left , and a right winger on the right

or else and you simply won't get the best out of them

anything else just wouldn't be cricket!

could turn out to be one of best buys city have made in the last 10 years, he's only young and hopefully he can get alot better, hes quality now so i'm excited to think about what he could be in a few years time if he stays injury free and the money doesn't get to his head.

he changed the game yesterday once again.

Bellamy's got goals in him, and pace to scare the opposition, but his final ball with his left foot has been poor recently.

Dive?

Not top notch yet, but has the potential to be. Good signing.

he was falling before contact was made, done very cleverly, but still a dive IMO, not that I'm bothered.

I love it when England players dive in the World Cup (Owen/Gerrard) it's an unfortunate part of the game but an enjoyable one all the same.

Just watched it again a few times including one on slow motion. It was nothing like you've described. He went down because he was tripped, thats all

Personally I would have hated it if he did dive, it's cheating pure and simple and I'd rather lose than win by cheating.

He didn't dive ...

it was a clear penalty , and one which Villa didn't contest.

Long term i think he will be played on the left - but for now we are really effective with Bellers there

The fucker has nerves of steel. How cool calm and collected was he for the second.

by the by. what was the score with their number six, on the second goal? is there a rule or something, that when you leave the field of play you cannot return? Why did he not try to get back on the pitch and do something? when you watch it he had time.

The conventional wisdom that he's been worse against the "big opponents" is crap.

First of all, he's played all of how many games against these teams? Far too small a sample size to judge negatively. Here in the US, I end up watching a lot of these games on the web, but we got the derby on TV in HD and Johnson was fantastic for the middle 30 of that match. He was gassed at 60 and Mancini took him out, but some of our biggest threatening opportunities came from Johnson's play. The bottom line is, and this is something that applies to SWP as well, if you're going to ask players to create scoring opportunities with dribbling, by making runs at defenders, there are going to be times where the results aren't there. But it's a necessary dimension and something we've been lacking. Bellamy is a great contrast, when Bellamy gets the ball on the left, there are usually 2 or 3 guys closing hard on him, whereas yesterday you could see Villa giving Johnson space because of the dribbling ability.

Was just about to post this. After I read the guys post about the dive, I got MOTD up on the Sky+ to watch it again. There is no way he went down before contact was made.
