Adam Johnson for Gareth Bale

Yes, definitely. Its just whether he'd pick up form here, he struggled at Tottenham for 2/3 years before he become recognised.

Tough one to be honest. I think Bale is better as a left winger, Johnson does offer the versatility that Bale doesn't, and I think he has more variation in what he can do than Bale has. But Bale can be so destructive down that left wing and Johnson does have a tendancy to fade away in the bigger games. Problem is, we already have a class left winger and I've never seen Bale play down the right. Johnson is brilliant as a rotation player and impact sub but I can never see him holding down a permanent place in our starting 11.

So, while it's a tough decision, I'd keep Johnson, because of his versatility.

What a ridiculous post and discussion, about as serious as Messi for Nasri or Villa for Santa Cruz or Johnson for ROnaldo.

Bale has been in the top 5 players in the prem in the last two years, Johnson has not been in the top 5 attacking players at Manchester City in the last 2 years. If we were proposing this deal Spurs would want 25m + Ade as well as Johnson.

Bale is class, despite half of Blue moon writing him off as a 6 month wonder he is still playing as well as anyone in the prem and we would not get him for less than the equivalent of 50m, Johnson we may stretch to get 15m for.

So would I want Johnson for Bale - hell yes, would I want Thiago Silva for Kolo Toure Hell yes, would I want Messi for Nasri hell yes and if we could get a deal to get Iniesta in for Hargreaves and Ashley Cole for Wayne Bridge as well I would say yes yes yes

and I rate Johnson too..........

Pretty much sums up my thoughts too there mate. I like Johno, He's a good player with bags of talent, scores some lovely goals but Bale is on another level. I think £25M plus Johno would be fair... Spurs would want more like £30M plus Johno.

I would say yes.

The articles about Johnson signing a new contract were they true? Never saw a quote from him.

Also keep hearing references to the fact that Silva says Johnson must be Spanish as he is too skilful to be Spanish.

I hope Johnson is a late developer and next season is his season.

IF we want to be challenging Europe's elite next Season, then Bale is the best left back/winger in the world, and we should be buying him........................no matter what the cost.

Bottom line..........your totally correct!!

Will it happen. Unless twitcher is going to Jail or the England job, i would suggest not!!! Mind you, its only what the RAGS used to do when they had money. Cherry pick the best players from teams 3 or 4 places behind them, strangly they always used to get their man, appart from Shearer........

To be honest at this moment in time Bale is a hell of a lot better than AJ !! But what worries me about Bale is he is reliant on his pace, but everytime I see him play you always see him rubbing his hamstrings through a match. We have seen players such as Owen,Torres etc struggle once this yard of pace has gone through injuries and I see Bale getting more than his fair share. AJ has never had pace and has had to rely on a bit more skill and good shooting for his plaudits,If he was to have a few injuries i dont see it having a long term detriment to his game.
So in the long run while Bale might be the better player I think AJ will prove the better squad player and better value for money over the next few years. I would hate to spunk a fortune (Like Chelski did on Torres) for someone like Bale !! In my mind he is only one decent hamstring pull away from being the player he is.
