It is totally justifiable to punish a man who knowingly groomed an under aged girl for sex if that is the law of the country where it happened. Forget the other parts of the world that have different laws and morals as they don't apply here. At all.

This countries laws and morals apply. He knew the legal age. He went ahead.

To be fair to itsrising, he's 18 so I think we should possibly cut him a little bit of slack. He may see things differently at 30 for example.

Is there that much to debate? He has cheated on his very good lucking wife who is a young mum with a 15 year old girl. He is an utter fucking disgrace and will suffer and quite rightly. What I find distasteful in this is him cupping his ears to the Newcastle fans in the last Derby whilst still earning 50k a week having committed this act. If he had met the girl in a club and thought she was 18 then I would have a lot of sympathy. Having pursued her via social media and knowing her age I have absolutely non. I would be amazed if he ever kicks a football professionally ever again.

Whilst there are varying opinions in this thread as to the label Adam Johnson should be awarded, one thing appears to be in agreement.
He is very much in the wrong.
Grooming and sexual activity....this is what he has pleaded guilty to.
Obviously, totally serious matters, and I hope he gets whatever it is that is coming to him.
A more minor note, is that he lied his ass off to my club, and fellow fans, insisting he was innocent....to such a degree, that he was unsuspended...
Innocent until proven guilty and all that.
So on day 1 of his court case, he admits his guilt...a total about turn.
Please Sunderland...do the correct thing...sack this prick...and distance us from him asap
