Well he has a great chance to put himself in the running now.

Downing is far from shit, but Johnson has 2 GOOD FEET, and pace/confidence/crossing ability in abundance, also no lack of confidence. Capello has always stated two for every position. As we know the 1st choice pick (IF FIT)
will be (Walcott) Lampard Barry Gerrard. Gerrard, remember though is mainly right footed.
The next pick will be (Lennon) Milner Beckham J Cole. However unpalatable that is to you or me.
Walcott, Milner Cole and Lennon are proven.
That leaves Downing Carrick SWP Young (Hargreaves) Johnson fighting for one place.
Downing SWP Young Carrick have been steady but not particularly outstanding. Bentley is a rank outsider.
Huddlestone and Jenas are the only other possible options, and doubtful they can add anything, because if they go they are unlikely to play, unless its a dead rubber or 3rd place play off.
Capello will hope that at least Walcott and Hargreaves will regain fitness, but it is looking increasingly doubtful. Capello will not take players who are not playing, or not match fit so that probably rules them out.
Every managers dream is an unknown quantity, Johnson is that man, we have looked for a naturally left sided player since 1998 FFS. Someone to frighten the shit out of the opposition.
7-2 looks very generous, he will play I believe against Egypt IF he impresses he will go.
So the mid-field 8 will be IMO.As I state unless Walcott and Hargreaves make remarkable recoveries.

By odd's saying he has got more chance of making it in the England WC squad than Walcott did in '06, but we did have Sven leading us then lol!

I don't think 7/2 is a great price tbh for a player that's yet to recieve a cap. I think he can make it though, it's gonna be a massive few months for him.
