Hopefully he will pleasantly surprise most of us then.The club have apparently been monitoring him for 2 seasons,seems, like Laporte,he has been thoroughly assessed for suitability and has been a long term target.Nothing - just that he is a player that none of us were really gunning for before the start of the window.
I thought it was fairly simple to comprehend too ;-)Very obviously according to who? Do you really think we chased him all summer (without allegedly speaking directly to the owner) and then at the last minute spoke to Porto & Sevilla for alternatives? We would have been speaking to all 3 at the same time to see what was possible.
I don’t think Denayer helped his cause when filmed booting somebody in the head as they lay on the floor.Not read all the thread but £2 Million does seem low. Maybe the club sold low as there was no realistic chance of him making it at City but that he has been a great example of how the club want fringe players to behave and so he was helped to make a decent move? The feedback about him that I have seen implies he is a really decent guy - I hope he does well at Fulham and maybe he should look at Ake as a model for what can happen when moving from a larger club to one that will be involved at the lower end.
There does seem to be some inconsistency in how players are treated - Denayer for example seemed to get a pretty raw deal. I think he had real potential and has done well to establish himself at a decent club. He certainly looked competent against us when we played them.
The problem last year was Laporte got injured.
My point is that when you sign a player its a 5 year commitment. Its a question of how far down the list do you go and at what point do you think - we might have better options next summer. I hope i'm wrong but I would have gone this year with what we had.
We refuse £18m for a player who doesnt want to play for the club and sell a player who loves the club for £2m , it will be interesting how many games Garcia & Tosin play for their respective clubs over the next couple of seasons. My guess is Garcia gets splinters on the Barca bench and Tosin develops in to a decent Premier centre half at Fulham or a tleast i certainly hope so.
Your making massive assumptions that Dias was low down the list ( he seemed to be our first choice target at one point Then seemed to drop down the list and then head back up it ) that he is not good enough and by your hope your wrong comment I would imagine your not really sure or about your opinion or have knowledge I confess I have no idea who is best out of all the options having not seen enough of them but I do not go doubting the experts or at least I try not nor do I suggest making do when we finish so far behind
What if Laporte gets injured ? Do you think Fernandinho can perform as well at year older ? In his less favored position? The club think Tosin is worse than Garcia so your suggesting we go into the season with Laporte same as last season Fernandinho same or worse than last season Stones as good worse or better who knows Tosin worse than Garcia better or worse than Otamendi who knows and THB better than or same as last year
Our defense was our down fall last year so you would have to make up for this by buying other players in other positions such as mid but we cannot get rid of players in this position
As I say your saying we go into this season worse or at best the same as last season in our key weak spot
Who would you have spent the money on ? If not Dias and Ake ?
