Could Kompany's return to the first team be a factor? If we had 3 fully fit experienced centre backs in the squad, Pep might think he could take a chance on Adarabayio as 4th choice. But with two fully fit cb's + Vinny he perhaps thinks he needs the insurance of a more experienced 4th cb?

I'd ask him to stay next season till Christmas to give us time to assess Vinny's fitness/reliability, with the promise of starting the League Cup games as a bare minimum. Then send him out on loan for the second half of the season.

I think Kolarov can be considered to be a centre back now so we effectively do have four. Not sure what is happening with Mangala and Denayer too so Adarabayio probably feels a long way away from the first team. Sell with buyback might well be the best option.

He needs to leave to develop his own game...has a lot of very good attributes...but for me the one thing I see holding him back is his distribution of the ball when I've seen him play he has tended to give the ball away at times with misplaced passes etc and we all know what Pep wants with regards to ball playing
If he can get to grips with this part of his game he will have a very good career at the highest level
Weather that is with us I don't know and the way he's dragging this contract issue out neither does he

If anyone is in doubt you cannot sell a player,with or without a buy back clause, if they are out of contract. There may be an award of a fairly small development fee at most.
