If Adebayor doesn't leave, isn't there is a ruling that he has to play a minimum number of games?

We really fucked up with this guys contract...

Does it stipulate how many minutes on the pitch he must play in those games?

Re: Adebayor

The next two years are going to be expensive whatever happens re Ade - he's an expensive mistake and a legacy from the past. on the basis he is going to cost us a fortune whatever we do I'd prefer not to give those ungrateful bastards Spurs - Redknapp's one man campaign against Mario last year being a case in point - any more of our charity. Would prefer to let Ade go to Italy and Spain - and we will have to pay circa 70k per week of his salary for two years. I can't see us getting either a fee or more that 100k of his wages paid - so on that basis get him out of the league.

Part of me would love him to rot in the reserves but that would cost us 170k per week - so probably best to try and loan him to Milan or Inter.

Re: Adebayor

I'd like us to loan him to Spurs again.

That way he wouldn't play against us and he'd take points off our rivals. It would also undermine Spurs as he isn't a long term solution for them

A good solution even if it is not at Spurs. Chelsea did the same with Crespo. We are going to lose money anyway with Adebayor

Re: Adebayor

It's clear we all want to see Ade do one rather sharpish but how about this? We're asking for £5m, which is a bargain obviously, but in terms of money in - not huge.

However, if he doesn't leave he'll cost us nearly £18m in wages over the next 2 years, after which we'll get nothing anyway.

So, let's just cut him loose now, on a free, and let Spurs hand him the extra £5m he seems so convinced he deserves to reside in his bank account. The only caveat to the free transfer is we would stipulate that he cannot play against us.

Even if he tries to leave on the Webster ruling he would still have to pay up the remainder of his own contract surely ?

If that's the case we win

Yes, you're right. But I'm pretty sure you can only buy yourself out of your contract after 3 years. Either way, if he does that it will cost him best part of £9m.

Shortened to two years as he is 28

Good point, 10% I believe. Means we can't let him rot in reserves otherwise walks on a free next year and I think we have to compensate his wages because of breach of contract. Even more reason we have to bend over and let him go this summer even if it is for nowt. :-(

Yep catch 22, let him leave this year for peanuts, or face the possibility of letting him leave for nowt next year after having made 52 payments to him of 170K and having to pay him compensation for the outstanding year on his contract.

It'd be funny if they start the season with only defoe & kane.

Re: Adebayor

All this stuff about his wages is bollocks.

We could pay his wages in full, but then buying clubs could pay up what he's worth.

Spurs want the cheap transfer fee to compensate for his high wages, but then want us to pay his high wages as well.

The club should hold firm on this.

Yes. But at some stage I'd realise that if I wanted to improve my side I'd have to put my hand in my pocket every now and then.

And it's irrelevant what Spurs want, we are under no obligation to fall into line with their wishes. We're here to do the best by MCFC not Daniel Levy.
