I'm no expert, but why would he need a new work-permit when he's been working in England since January 2006?

Does he need a new permit, if he switches clubs within the timeframe of the original work permit?? Bit confused!!!

Maybe his permit was only for the length of his Arsenal contract, so if City offer him a 4/5 year deal, he will need an new permit or a extension..

If someone starts a new job they need to reapply for a work permit incase they no longer qualify for it. with adebayor it should be a formality he needs to have played in plus 75% of international games for Toga and Toga's averagage Fifa ranking for the past 2 years needs to be 70 or better.

You can always get round it as long as you can prove it. I worked at Pro Active who are a football agency in wilmslow and they had this problem when Hughes funnily enough was buying Ryan Nelson from DC United he had played enough games but New Zealands average was something 70.8 over 2 years so the had to apply.

Part of me thinks it's a smokescreen, the only player we're currently linked with that would need a work permit is Eto'o.

I hope that's the case, although I'm probably clutching at straws!

Either way.... happy days!!!!!

Let it go mate. Eto'o has been pictured on holiday in America by the daily mail today. He is not coming. Adebayor is and has to apply for a work permit. Benjani had to when he signed here. Its a formality now.
 
I think a work permit applies for a specific employer, so a player needs to get a new permit if they change employer - its generally little more than a formality though, particularly if the player has already had one accepted before for this country.

Shouldn't stop a deal being announced though - I remember Sven having to sort permits out for Corluka and Elano after we'd already announced that we'd signed them - the club usually says 'x player has signed for City subject to a work permit' or summat along those lines.

Me too m8 still think its eto myself and thats why hughes mentioned ady .. welll i hope so ady 2nd ..eto 1st
