Re: Adebayor

I think most of us would not mind to much IF he just admitted "i like money more than playing".

It's the comments about just wanting to play first team footy and all that shite that angers me.

Be honest you spineless fool, we can accept that, we can't accept obvious bullshit.

This one is doing my head in, I know it's been said a few times in the thread but I just can't get to grips with it.

He is 28 and has 2 years left on his contract.

Forget Ade is on 175k per week.

IF he was on a normal wage, ala RvP, of say 80-100k per week.

A player of his calibre would be fetching circa 15/20mil.

So even if say Spuds are "only" offering him 100k per week then his "loss" on the 2 years is about 8mil.

Spuds are offering 5.5mil so in effect if they add the 8mil as a payoff it still only brings the perceived value to 13.5mil which is surely still a great deal as I'd love to see who else they could get for that money.

I just don't understand why more clubs aren't after him if we are prepared to accept about 5/6mil as a transfer fee, it's a no-brainer.

Strange.

Maybe his reputation as a well known troublemaker has finally caught up with him?

I am not sure about the troublemaker, but I am sure that his crazy wages are the reason why clubs dont even try to sign him.

Re: Adebayor

I still wouldn't rule Liverpool out yet. If they sell Carroll they could reinvest in Ade and pay signing on fee to compensate and they would have a great attack with Suarez and Borini with Ade heading a 433.

Spurs will buy him but will do so late in the day.

For alll the shit Ade gets for being greedy I'm pretty sure he runs a few orphanages. He owes City nothing as much as it pains me to say. 99% of players would do what he's doing.

WE SHOULD LOAN HIM

The maths makes perfect sense but maybe Ade is wanting an effective pay rise in terms of a pay off knowing we want to shift him.

A better option for us would be to sanction a 2 year loan deal to the Spuds where we pay his full wages but charge a loan fee. The loan fee I guess would be around 8mil a season (roughly 2.5-3 mil for a 'fee' and 52x100k a week they don't have to pay him because we cover the full wages).

Spuds get him still really cheap by what is reasonable (they can arrange some option to extend a contract with him beyond the 2 years assuming they want some sell on value). While the benefit for us for giving him away so cheaply is that he can't play against us for 2 seasons as he's technically on loan, we have 16million revenue coming in to help FFP while his salary doesn't count against us for FFP given how long ago we signed him.

Adebayor

@FootyTrollz: Arsenal bought Adebayor for £7million, sold him for £25million and now he's worth £4million. #ArseneKnows

I agree with this. While Ade signed a contract with us on a reported £175k a week and has every right to expect no reduction in that wage over the next 2 years, the supposed 5.5-6 million transfer fee is way less than his actual worth so either Spurs pay the shortfall in his wages over the next 2 years or we pay it and sell him to them for the 12 million or whatever it amounts to when you add the shortfall onto the proposed fee.
