Just heard mirror's John Cross spouting tosh to Sam Matterface on talksport.
Claims it is terrible what we are doing with Adebayor, and that as a contract was signed with him, we have no right to 'dock his pay' just to get him off the wage bill and should honour the contract, as by asking him to accept lower wages we would in effect be breaking that contract.

This is hypothetical non-journalism at its worst. We are in no way docking his pay (as long as he honours the contract too which differing from Tevez he has done.)
Asking him to take a pay cut? - if he moves for less it would not be us paying him the lower wage and our contract would have by then ended and a new one would be in place with his new club, so no breaking from our side again.

Ade has a choice: keep taking the money which we will honour, or move possibly for less to get game time. It's entirely his choice and always has been since he stopped putting in the effort required to keep his place. When Sam mentioned this (professional pride) cross swept it away claiming it was Ade's right to have the contract honoured, entirely missing the point that is being honoured on Ade's choice.

Added to which he seems to hold it as some kind of given that talented footballers should always get more money with each move and never have a wage cut. Foolish assumption, and the choice is still there in Ade's hands, plus totally ignoring the fact that he may have been offered above his real market rate (in which case again, make your choice what you want from life) or that his value might have gone down due to either his actions or market conditions.

If this made up rubbish is what passes for reporting then the media may as well put a front page screaming that Prince William/Alex ferguson//John cross/ whomever has no right to molest a minor just because they are feeling horny. Same principle: reprting that the subject has a want and IF they choose to fulfill it by breaking the law and other moral boundaries then we should scream blue murder and shun them.

In the hypothetical situation yes, we probably should, but by talking in this way especially without qualifying that the subject is in fact not doing anything of the sort, all the general public hears is 'the subject did this'.

It's not quite there, but it is close to slander and I hope we are dealing with this unfortunate misanthrope in the relevant way.

Yeh I also heard him spouting his mouth off, so at that point I went to the toilet and imagined it was his mouth I was pissing in, Well it gave me some Satisfaction !!!!!

I heard that too - now I´ll just go and imagine I´m dumping in his mouth!!
225k a week ?!! Fook off and do some fookin research for once you lazy fookin hack. Oh and he wouldn´t countenance the fact that they were all "good ol" Mark Hughes signings

Re: Adebayor

Nobody is going to pay £20m for Carroll. So I wouldn't get too excited that they'd use that money to buy Adebayor...

PSG were willing to pay City +15 million pound but he refused to go there !

City let him play with Madrid and Spurs and paid most of his wages.

What more does he want from City ?

Why should he go to PSG if he doesnt want to?

Exactly. We can't mad at Tevez for not honouring his contract as player if we as a club are not honouring our commitments to Ade. He signed to play here for 5 years at 175k. Hes not an international footballer so if he wanted to he could have kicked back and waited.

The logic on these boards is astounding lately.

How are we as a club are not honouring our commitments to Ade?

Re: Adebayor

There are surely some stupid people at City dealing with outgoing transfers.

At Spurs they sold Corluka for 4-5 m pound, then Krancjar for another 4-5 m pounds, and noe they are looking to sell Pienaar for 5 m pound to Everton, exactly from where they signed Pienaar for 2.5m pounds.

None of these players are as good or as useful, or even a starting team player at Spurs while Adebayor would be their only realible striker. (they only have Defoe now in that position.)

Spurs are getting 15 m for the 3 players mentioned above. We are about to get 5m for a striker like Adebayor.

To sanction such a loan deal for Adebayor with spuds without the obligation of an outright purchase clause and a fee set in place is just plain stupid. Fucking daft

They just showed him in the crowd at the NY/Philadelphia MLS game in case anyone gave a fuck where he is at the mo.
Seriously? Yes, I give a fuck because he was linked with Red Bulls a couple of months ago, City wouldn't let him go on his jollies now, that's got to be transfer related. Although, Spurs tour is in US, either way, got to be a transfer.
