Yep, they could have faced a stiff task at Palace, who would have loved to spoil Arsenals day, but we've made things easy for Arsenal now .... they can go there, take things easy and lose, and it won't make a blind bit of difference.

They also got very fortunate with the fixtures after we beat them at home. If we had the opportunity and had taken it to go 6 points in front after being so far behind all that time I believe they'd have completely imploded and got knocked out of the Champions League shortly afterwards too. To have thrown 3 trophies away in the space of a few weeks I'm convinced they'd have crumbled with the pressure of the Champions League being their only chance of any silverware.

But pacey, energetic football is unsustainable when you play in the Champions League and go deep in both cups. That was Bournemouth's 39th game this season, compared to City's 59th.

You've WAY over simplified it to suit your narrative. It doesn't have to be one or the other. It doesn't have to be 'we've not been good enough', or 'we've been done by many poor decisions'. It can be (and absolutely is) both.

I'll get it out of the way now, we've lost this league mainly because we've not been good enough to win it.

However, you cannot deny the sheer amount of questionable (pivotal) decisions that have gone against us directly or indirectly. The disallowed West Ham goal was the absolute pinnacle, along with the Havertz full studded stamp without going for a ball that was reviewed and deemed fine by VAR. There are many many others too. Even tonight, the immediate offside flag for Erling, the missing minutes at the end.

Second half of the season we've been good enough, once the new additions and January signings kicked in.

Played them 3 times and unbeaten, destroyed em twice.

If the second half season form continues into next season we'll be clear favourites.

We need some serious additions to our midfield though, with Silva going and Rodri's ups and downs, we are looking light weight there

Not sure where we stand with the squad now. It's clear he doesn't trust Rindeers, Lewis, Gonzales, RAN and probably Marmoush and Savio.
His 2 premier centre half's from the last 3 years, can't get a game (Ruben and Josko). He's run the rest into the ground to achieve some sort of consistency.
He's squeezed what he can from what he has. If he was stopping there is a lot to do to gain a squad he can rotate.
Looking forward to it.

12 days off for Bournemouth and it showed. I swear this League is bent. Why would they schedule the FA Cup Final on the penultimate week of the season? It adds NOTHING to the prestige of that tournament. 2 1/2 days rest and it showed.

Well, I mean, he hit on something with finally starting Cherki. Nunes is the undisputed RB on the current squad. O'Reilly is on the right. Gvardiol has been out so long, he wasn't match fit. Neither was Kovacic, which is why I questioned the start. But what was he going to do? Apart from Kovacic being in the lineup - who else did you want in there besides Cherki?

I do agree that Rjeinders, Lewis, RAN and Nico G are the odd ones out. I think Marmoush and Savinho may seek other teams. If we were going to see something from Savinho, we probably would have seen it this season. I think Lewis is probably off to another team in summer. If I were Nico G, I'd probably decide to leave.

Depends on whether he's staying or going. If he's going, what will Maresca do with the squad?

I think there will be a huge review of VAR considering the backlash of the last few weeks.

3 huge decisions in a month all looked at and fucking cleared in their favour.

Gabriel, Havertz, and half their fucking team ruining a West Ham goal.

The way its panned out , Spurs only need to draw at home last game and it could send West Ham down.

We looked mentally and physically fucked from the first whistle. Could tell from the off the way it was going to go.

Not sure if it can be put down to the news around Pep, the ridiculous football schedule that was 'allowed' to form for us at the season end, or a bit of both.

Rodri in particular looked absolutely dead, can't recall ever seeing him look so off it.

So many stray passes, so many poor decisions, so many glum faces. Sad really.

Can't win everything I guess. Onward and upward.

Rodri is no where near fit, whether he will regain his fitness is open to debate.
Not many sportsmen can be out of action for the best part of 18 months and get back to peak fitness.
And it certainly doesn't help when he is flanked by 2 midfielders who lack pace .

Some odd takes here.

We always had the harder run-in than Arsenal and so unless we entered the home stretch ahead we were always likely to be second.

Bournemouth away was always going to be hard and they were brilliant tonight.

We won the FA cup at the weekend. Was always going to be tough in terms of energy levels. Frustrating to go out on that performance? Sure.

I hate to see another club win it, but second place and two cups is a good season for a team at this stage in their development.

Can't wait for next season, seeing Haaland, Cherki, Doku, Khusanov, O'Reilly, Guehi, Rodri etc all push on.

Spot on. We've seen the potential in the last few months. No reason to see why this will not only improve over time.

We'll get there. To castigate a single player in a game isn't really a good enough excuse in the PL. One player being a shadow of his former self is too much of an easy scapegoat. We've not played to our usual high standards for too many games this season (collectively). That's all there is to it really. Things can (and probably will) get better for next season.
