Affinity with West Ham. How did it start?

I have a soft spot for them. Similar fan base to City. Proper community of people who just want to have a laugh and see good football. Working class routes too. Very much like ourselves in that way. Always want them to do well (except against us), and would love for them to overhaul those other shite London teams.
