There seems to be have a complete lack of consideration that the Taliban might have talked a large number of local powers onto their side, knowing that it wouldn't involved fighting the US come this summer.
 
They are already painting over the pics of women on beauty salons , they stoned and shot several women last week , i fear for all the women and girls now , i see all those trying to get on planes are men , leaving the females to it , disgusting

Prior to the 1st Iraq conflict, the modern British Army was built around the Cold War era where it was set up to fight as part of NATO forces against the USSR, focused around an invasion of Europe scenario.

In reality, they have had to adapt to a different way of operating since 1990, where as the Taliban have been operating this way for centuries. They were always going to be on the back foot in Afghanistan.

a/ delivering goods to shops by driving HGV's
b/ organising and delivering vaccines at centre's all over the land
c/ needed to repel invaders from our channel beaches
I am not at all sure what assets we could use even if we want to - Johnson might be a lying twat but he can count.

Raab was not responsible for either going in or coming out. That was Potus in both cases.
 
There is so much involved with this, so much of it I'm still trying to understand, that I don't want to say much.

But what I truly don't get is how the US gov did not evacuate by whatever means necessary the true allies we had. The interpreters and officials and the like the Taliban was going to target. From what I'm seeing many of them were hung out to dry and that is inexcusable.

Just so sad. The whole world is a mess.

not that i defend the Taliban in any way shape or form, but apparently the education thing is changing and girls will be allowed to schools beyond a certain age as this has been the case in Taliban areas for a few years. How progressive of them.

I think girls were allowed to be educated to 12 on Taliban v1, but after that they could do nothing - no job, just child rearing/childcare.

the average life expectancy of females in Afghanistan had gone up by over 10 years in the past 2 decades (iirc), but with the lack of female medical staff and care, that’ll plummet again.

That reads very much like a post where the inference is "I've got bigger bollocks than these cowards. I'd show them how to defend against an overwhelming force."

It also reads like the uttering of someone who has absolutely no understanding of the overall situation or the micro situations of individuals caught in such a scenario.
