Pablo zabeleta ageing and past his best has been quality last 5 years but times up, martin demichellis finished! Kolorov to slow and ageing! Clichy past his best from previous seasons! Yaya finished cant run or head or tackle past his best cant move anymore!nasri injury prone! Fernando waste of space! Navas to inconsistent! Mangala to inconsistent! Bony waste of space! Cabellero waste of space! All need to move on now and i think pep will move most on! Hart sagna otamendi kompany delph fernandinho sterling silva de bruyne aguero iheanacho keep these 11 in squad and add 8-9 new young in the prime quality players with energy and some pace. Time for squad overall as were simply to slow now with no workrate whatsoever.. Who do you think needs to go and stay next season???

I don't think massive changes in the squad are needed. Players that don't look world beaters this season may do better in a new system next season.

I would like to see the EDS involved in first team matches, but the squad we have should be more than capable of picking up trophies.

It's one thing wanted them to go... It's another thing finding a club who wants them and is willing to pay the money... and it's another thing completely convincing wasters like Bony, Nasri and Kolarov to give up a lucrative contract with 2 or 3 years left to run to join a lesser club on half the salary

Not gonna be easy

Yes and you can add no conviction , physicality and mental toughness either.

They are poorly managed and given up an easy goal at home after equalising sums up this team to a tee , they are disorganised and not up for a fight.

I would add Sagna and Delph to that list as well.

Massive overhaul needed but it will probably take 2-3 windows to do it.

This is our worst season since the takeover all things considered.

Hart 28, Caballero 34
Sagna 33, Zaba 31, Kolarov 30, Clichy 30
Kompany 29, MDM 35, Otamendi 28, Mangala 25
Yaya 32, Fernandinho 30, Fernando 28, Delph 26
Navas 30, Silva 30, KdB 24, Nasri 28, Sterling 21
Aguero 27, Bony 27, Kelechi 19

Average age of that lot is 28.4.

By replacing just MDM & Toure with Denayer & Pogba the average age is already down to 26. Then a couple of fullbacks being replaced you're likely down to under 25. Not a massive fix needed there for me at least; 3 signings to replace Toure, Sagna & Kolarov/Clichy & promotion of Denayer to senior squad.

Whether the players will fit Pep's style, we'll have to wait & see.

We've relied on the same core players too long and not done enough in the transfer market to surround them with equal quality. 2012/13 onwards has been poor in terms of bringing in the right quality (Fernandinho, Demichelis, De Bruyne, Sterling aside) Key men in Kompany, Silva and Aguero have been injured too frequently and Toure has naturally regressed but we've not adapted correctly to it.

I have faith in Pep making us a more organized unit that will work hard and press the opposition while playing with pace in attack.

Age myth rearing its ugly head again.

We could quite feasibly play this 11 under Pep.

Hart 28

Otamendi 28, Kompany 29, Mangala 25

Nasri 28, Fernandinho 30, Delph 25, Sterling 21

De Bruyne 24

Aguero 27, Ihenacho 19

Denayer is probably the most promising young centre back in world football at 20 and when we sell Yaya and Demichellis who are both in their thirties the average age is normal.

Absolute non starter.

We could all see this coming to be honest.. football works in cycles and a lot of this bunch are sadly coming to the end of that.

For sentiment sake its going to be difficult moving on from the likes of Zaba, Yaya (and possibly even Silva) because they've done so much for us - as the core of a City team who brought us so much joy, after so many years of shit.

I myself still make the mistake of thinking 'Zaba still has it, he'll be back to his best soon' and that Yaya will still pop up with his huge title run-in matchwinners, but sadly time catches up with any team and we simply haven't re-invested well enough into the first team over the past few years. We still seemingly find ourselves relying on the same players who took us over the line under Mancini.

Its going to be a sad day when some of our heroes from that day (and our other recent trophies) move on, but its looking more and more likely that it needs to be done.

Most of those ages are wrong, plenty of those players have a birthday before they play their first game under Pep

Correct. Kompany will be 30, Hart 29, Fernandinho 31, Nasri 29, KDB 25, Aguero 28 at the start of next season.

Whatever, at the end of the day Hart isn't even 30 and most goalkeepers enter their prime in their early 30s. In the 10 outfield players I posted 5 of them are in their early 20s.

Why do some of our fans believe the apocalyptic line the press spin about our squad.

Real Madrid fans aren't shitting themselves because Ronaldo is in his 30s, Bale is 27 and Benzema is 28.

Ribery and Robben are early 30s but Bayern fans don't mind.

You'd think Silva is collecting his pension the way some on here talk.

John Terry was the best defender in England last year at 35 and United kept plugging along under Ferguson when Evra, smack head and Vidic were much older than our crop.

And we have a winner.

Baconface always said that teams are in 3-4 year cycles. Our team has been great, they are an old team now and a overhaul is needed. In today's football it's hard to have a team with a lot of players 28 and above.

I don't think age is the major factor here. I think it's more to do with lack of effort and more importantly being able to get away with that lack of effort.

There's no lack of effort, that's just a favourite cliche thrown about by football fans. Younger players just have better fitness levels and less wear and tear on their bodies.

please give me one team in the past which more than half of the team are in their 30s, and can play high intensity and energetic game. i remember none. there is no coincidence that we are playing so slow and predictable. too many old players in the team. the number should keep in check around 1/4 from the team or max 6 from 22 players. half of the squad should be in their prime years, 23-28.

I think its obvious we have to bring in younger players but have the nous and drive and talent for success from the outset.

They may not turn out to be the right players but Sterling and KDB are part of that need.
