Aguero contract situation

No Aguero, no Messi. Messi is a known introvert so having Aguero here will 100% affect the decision in my opinion
Maybe Sergio and Messi go to Paris with Neymar? Would be gutting if he goes to another big team because I think we all thought he'd go from here back to Argentina.

I’m sure the club can and will afford some sentiment in this case.

I also really think they are easing him back in. Outside of our own fan base i don’t hear many suggestions that he might be finished.
We still need to sign a top quality striker to replace him this summer but he is not a bad player to come off to he bench if we need him . A new contract would be good for him but obviously he wouldn’t be first choice for us anymore . Tbh wouldn’t like to see him anywhere apart from in Argentina .

That’ll be the source of the Mirror story - Kun following Messi to Paris. The British football establishment would prefer Messi to go to Paris than see him grace the PL - thats how bitter they are.

Tough shit then if the club decides Sergio can’t get back to a reasonable level of fitness. Be great if he stays but regardless we need to sign a young top class striker this summer. We can’t let trying to sign a 34 year old Messi over cloud our judgement when trying to move the squad forward.

Imo club is worried about his fitness an rightly so.

Looks like he cant get fully fit anymore gets close to a comeback but then never plays and has a setback. Seems like even trainings are hard for him and that causes the setbacks, because real matches when opponents goes in hard on him quite often can make it even worse.

Hope he can come back in this month and will be able to start games regularly but honestly would not be surprised to see him start tomorrow, get subbed around 60th minute and not see him again for a month. Thats how his season is going so far unfortunately.

He always needs 2-3 bad games to catch momentum after a period off injured, but it was a long ago he started 3 games in a row for us.

tbh hes my favorite player of our sheik era however weve had his best years and if like david he decides he wants to move on then he"ll have most peoples blessing.what we need to do is get a decision and buy a striker if hes going,

Putting sentiment aside and (somehow) forgetting the unforgettable QPR moment, would it be that 'gutting' if Messi and Sergio went to PSG? If we sign a new striker, hopefully Haarland, then us not paying Messi and Sergio, average age 33, 25/30 million a year for what would be something of a gamble on both for different reasons has got to make sense in every way.

Offer Agüero an extension. He's still absolute world class, and has without a shadow of a doubt, a couple of seasons left in the tank on top form, if he can remain fit.
Do we need to search the market for another striker? Absolutely, we need depth attacking wise, so an extension combined with a new CF would be ideal for Sergio and City.

I've never been super-keen on Messi coming, although I know all the arguments about why it would be good. You might be right about Sergio - just really find it hard to put sentiment aside in his case.

Part of me thinks "imagine Messi playing for City" and the publicity that would generate is undeniable. But unless he's going to commit to CFG and go to New York, which is a darn sight colder than Miami, then 2 seasons of him at the arse end of his career, paying him 20 million quid a year, for him then to go somewhere else is not worth the hassle imo.

I would sign him for another two years regardless of injury. Luckily for us, i'm not in charge!
I've got a deep worry that the knee is swelling up everytime he trains. If that points to him never fully recovering, the club cannot extend his contract.
So his agent starts putting the feelers out in the hope somebody comes in with a pre contract before the news leaks out.

My hope that this is all complete bollocks.
That we are just in the middle of sorting a fresh deal out, and the knee injury really is only a niggle that will settle down. Hence why we are being so careful with him!

Reminds me of the ‘Kompany’s finished’ talk and then he used to come back in to the team and we’d all remember who the fucking man was. I hope he stays next season at a minimum, happy for him to decide when he goes.

Sad to say but I think it’s genuinely time for him to move on.

If we’re going into next season with him and Messi on the books, we’re not doing so in a healthy position regarding wages, especially with other players.

We should look to build for the future.

Offer his wages to Harry Kane or Haaland.

Going to be a sad day, the clubs greatest ever striker, I just don’t think he’s reliable enough with fitness and he’s going to be slower.

Hasn’t he scored one goal for us all season?

Not through any fault of his own but we unfortunately cannot rely on him and I feel keeping him would be purely for sentimental reasoning.

I love the guy but think it’s a good time for him to move.

Forgive me if posted before, but I was under the impression that it was agreed this was Kuns last season with us and the club were were giving him a golden handshake and waving goodbye as he went back to South America to play out his days. Very much what they did for David Silva.

Could clear the wages by selling Mahrez.

Messi, if he comes, has no transfer fee attached. If we pay him £60m for 2 seasons, it’s a drop in the ocean.

I can’t believe people want him to stay longer. He regrettably can no longer be relied upon due to injuries. And that’s an understatement. That said, nothing could ever take away his legend status here.

I’m wary of letting our players decide when THEY want to leave. Zaba, Silva, Yaya, Vinny and now Aguero. I think it allows a softness to creep in.

In Fergies glory days, he got rid of big names to keep everyone on their toes and to keep it fresh. And it worked. No one ever felt safe and I bet they gave an extra 10% because of it.Our lads know that no matter what, they’ll not be shown the door unless they’ve decided to go..

I say keep him on as a player/model. Get him to do all the fucking kit reveals and shit and have him play when he’s fit, who cares

I was thinking about this but then again, are we going to get someone happy enough with that playing time who is any better than Mahrez?
