Aguero contract situation

I think there is more to Aguero's injury than meets the eye. I don't think he will be here next season and Pep knows it. It is almost as if he is snubbing him. Will he ever play for us again? I hope so, he has been a great player for the club, an absolute legend.

At moment don’t think he is capable of pressing he will get 20/30mins soon.

Hard to see how you extend the contract of a player that is at the end of his top level career, has become injury prone, hasn’t ever been the fittest player & doesn’t seem to be able to recover from injuries very quickly.

As a top earner, in a seriously important position in the team, it is very, very hard to pay serious money to a player for whom you know you need both a replacement AND the significant financial package that will be required to acquire him.

Sergio will leave with the love and adoration of a generation of City fans who saw every record breaking goal. We are all the better for seeing this world class striker spend the best years of his career gracing the sky blue shirt and giving many of us the best, most heartbreakingly ecstatic, moment of footballing brilliance in our lives.

He will be missed, but he will never be forgotten, and may never be replaced...but it is time to start the process to try.
I agree He needs to leave this summer. In fact I’d say he’s been here a year too long already. i also have a feeling that he will inexplicably be here next season too.

I don't believe sentiment is in Pep's DNA. Hart, Zabba, Yaya, Kompany, Silva all left, he paid his respects but his focus is the team not an individual. I had this discussion with my dad on Saturday, if we had unlimited funds and no limit on number of players I would keep Sergio, but on the basis of his fitness and his age, my mind is now switching that he'll be gone by the end of the season.

The only question in my mind is whether everything depends on Messi. Is him coming to us dependent on Aguero staying? Is Aguero staying dependent on Messi coming?

If there is a link then maybe a pay-as-you-play contract might be on the cards. If there's no link then the decision is clear for me. We've been privileged to watch our greatest ever striker for 10 seasons but we aren't getting value for money from him as things stand. Particularly in the current climate, where money is tight, we need a striker we can rely on and freeing up his wages would help us get that striker.

I honestly doubt the two are linked. I'd say aguero stayong is certainly not linked with messi coming. Messi, if he were to cone might be slightly influenced by aguero staying, but i dount that too. Personally.

I thinks it's pretty obvious City have decided to free up his wages and squad spot for some incoming player

Jose is so full of shit.

No one has called Aguero about a new contract?

A month ago the same "journalist" was saying he'd been offered 50% of his current salary.

So which is it? No one has called, or they've offered him a half price contract?

He is obviously full of shit. What is more problematic, however, is the fact that in the past he has been kind of an unofficial mouthpiece for Aguero or at least someone being very close to his camp. So maybe this is just a 'negotiation tactic' of sorts or trying to wind up the public / the fans against the club, but it could very well be with the blessing of Aguero's camp, so...not a fan.

He's sounding more and more as if he's no longer in the loop and trying desperately to appear as if he is.
