Is it based on the calendar year? If so, Silva being omitted is farcical.
It can't be. We're only in November.
I'd assume it's based on last season 2010-11, in which case you'd have to wonder how Joachim Loewe is nominated, unless they also include summer championships as "preseason", although Germany did play very well they didn't reach the final. Nani at least looks very good in the Opta stats - top points scorer in Fantasy Prem last season. Silva was hot & cold last season. Mancini won a cup and UCL qualification - so why Wenger is included I have no idea. Unless they run it from March 2010-March2011?
The list ist for the 2010/11 season. It includes the CL and Euroleague, the Copa, and the Qualification for the Euro2012.
It is true a political list as all of the important leagues have to be included, all important national teams, all continents...
Uruguay has won the Copa - Suarez was best player, Forlan the captain
The Netherlands were one of the best qualifying teams in the Euro2012 qualification - Snijder is their outstanding player, Robben was mostly injured that year
Snijder and Forlan are the only ones that play in the Italian league.
The three Germans and Löw - Germany had a clean sheet in the Euro2012 qualification - Schweinsteiger is the heart of the team, even if he had an off season. Özil and Müller have put their stamp on the national squad - especially if you have seen the recent matches - and had 52 scorers in 65 games (Özil) and 49 scorers in 61 games (Müller) in overall competitions. There is not much of the older players that have better stats...
Argentina is a big soccer nation - and their has to be somebody in that does not play for Barca. Agüero stats (39 scorers in 49 games) were on the level Müllers and Özils were last year and he is an upcoming talent, too.
Manchester United made it into the CL final - that is why Nani and Rooney are in there. Rooney covers another category - English player.
At the end their will be only 3 players left - Messi, Ronaldo and probably Xavi. Messi will win it.
He should not have won last year as Barca went out of the CL in the semi finals and Argentina was not really good at the world cup. But this year he has earned it.
