Real Madrid to step up hunt for Sergio Aguero as Man City prepare to welcome Negredo
REAL MADRID are refusing to throw in the towel as far as their pursuit of Sergio Aguero goes.
The 25-year-old Argentine's Etihad future has been clouded in uncertainty for some time now and we recently reported that he had secretly told friends he would like to join Real's arch-rivals Barcelona.
Aguero had also quashed rumours last week linking him to Real, saying: "They were only rumours. I have a commitment at Manchester City, which is a great club."
With Napoli circling in on Gonzalo Higuain, Aguero has been deemed as the perfect replacement.
Although Aguero's previous history with Atletico Madrid may hinder a move, Real appear intent on making a move for him.
Spanish paper AS has it that Aguero is still considered a viable option by president Florentino Perez.
The only obstacle to a potential deal is that Aguero recently signed a contract extension keeping him at the Etihad until 2017.
City have already seen Carlos Tevez leave for Juventus and they have all but agreed deals for Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo.
The Sevilla striker is set to join for £21m pending the outcome of a medical.
