There's evidence to the contrary, unless he's an oscar-level actor, from Goodison.
He indicated to the bench he'd had a tweak. Looked pretty pissed off about it to me, too. Pellegrini spent the next few minutes urgently telling him to go down so he could be treated. Sergio ignored him, carried on playing and even got involved in play again. He kept looking at the bench, shaking his head, and indicating he'd try to run it off and they made him go down.
He will be desperate to appear on Sunday. Days like that are what players dream of.
I was surprised that he stayed on for a couple of minutes given his recent injuries and you're right the whole thing looked more like it was the club/management who are trying to protect him. After all, Sergio (or any other huge asset) continuing with a muscle injury until he is well and truly crocked doesn't help anyone regardless of whether it is a World Cup year or not. I still think he has to stop these tweets though. When I read that tweet I took it with a huge pinch of salt because we have heard it all before from him but inevitably some people assume he is going to be right this time and assume he is fine. I think then some get frustrated, question what is going on and it starts the ball of suspicion rolling.
Haha. I always ignore those Tweets, too. We've had a few.
The other things is, with an asset like Aguero (Silva is the same), if you are a brilliant manager you do pander to them to a degree, to ensure they don't fuck off to Barcelona. So if he's OK for tonight but with a 2% chance of a follow-on injury, and is expressing nerves he doesn't want to miss the decider and the world cup, then you might decide to take the call that resting him gets you more "buy-in" with him for the greater good.
As long as we don't lose the game and title, of course ;-)
