'Injured' Aguero ready for Argentina duty in move that will infuriate Mancini

Sergio Aguero has risked upsetting Roberto Mancini by putting himself forward for international duty with Argentina even though he is not fit enough to play for Manchester City.
Aguero has been out of action since the opening weekend of the season when he was carried off against Southampton after twisting his right knee.

Ready for action: Sergio Aguero is with the Argentina squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers, and he has declared his intent on playing

However, having ruled out the possibility of his £38million record signing joining up with Argentina for their World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru, Mancini relented and allowed Aguero to travel to Buenos Aires where he promptly declared his intention to try and play in the second game next Tuesday.
'I'm here until Peru,' said Aguero on his arrival at Ezeiza Airport. 'Today, the knee still hurts and it bothers me, but things might change in two or three days. I will see the doctors of the Argentinean FA.'
That is unlikely to go down well with Mancini who wants Aguero available again after the international break for a crucial week that sees City take on Stoke and Arsenal either side of their Champions League opener away to Real Madrid.
The Italian had already criticised FIFA’s 'ridiculous' rules that enabled Argentina to call up his player, and was emphatic on Friday that Aguero would not travel.
'No, absolutely not,' said Mancini. 'He stays here and will continue to work because we need him to recover well.'
It echoes a similar issue in October when Argentina activated their right to have Aguero make a 14,000-mile round trip for games against Chile and Venezuela even though he was not fit enough to play because of a groin injury.

Fitness fears: Aguero limped out of the first game of the season with injury
However, City have been at pains to stay on good terms with the South Americans and also respect Aguero’s wishes to avoid a conflict between club and country.
It is understood that the two sets of doctors are in contact over the knee injury and City are confident that no unnecessary risks will be taken with Aguero’s fitness.

I don't think he will play any part and would assume it is more of a trip home in
Disguise. I don't think he has any intention of playing as he clearly stated he felt pain.

Would be very surprised if he plays even 5 mins !

more concerned than anything that he is still feeling pain - mind you if he is in Argentina its probably thr long haul flight thats caused that, fucking scandalous

Agree a long haul flight might not be ideal for his knee, but he was probably relaxing in first class, not cramped in economy like Paul Lake returning from his knee op in California! As another poster said, probably more of a trip home.

He was interviewed last night in a airport in Argentina. He said he started running again 3days ago and will meet with the Argentina doctor to see if he's fit to play
He also said he spoke to Mancini and Bobby is ok with the situation
It was on SSN

He doesn't need to see the Argie doctor, I'll tell you right now, he isn't fit to play. There. Now put his ass back on the next flight home and have the physios who deal with him nearly every single day of his life make sure our multi million pound asset isn't being needlessly destroyed by some Argie coach with a Falklands complex.

Good one!

It does my head,we've probably got the best medical staff money can buy yet it's down to some half arsed argie doctor who says whether he can play or not..
Come on sergio, use a bit of savvy, only you know yourself if you're fit or not,you don't need to go home to realise that and what's wrong with flying your family over here for two weeks..

These footballers have got no common sense what so ever,it's frightning!!

on radio this morning he is willing to play through the
pain barrier to play for his country, utter fucking joke
should not be even allowed to travel never mind play
