Aircon re-gas

Thanks mate. I think I'm going to speak to Nissan UK.

Hi Prestwich Blue. I drive a Nissan Qashqai Tekna, a 2014 model, and I have just had to re gas mine. The vehicle has only done 11000 miles. I complained at the last service (2 yr service) about the £90 charge for the re gas. I thought that a new car shouldn't need a re gas after such low usage. Whenever I drive the car the air con is always in use, so they could not state that it had failed through lack of use. The staff informed me that low mileage was not a factor. Anyway - it's failed again after one month. So l will be in full complaint mode this week. It would be interesting to see what response you get with yours.

Aircon is a big requirement here in Brisbane all the year round, yes it should be run at least once a month or the seals dry out and can crack/shrink causing leaks, this is probably the cause with the OP.

I certainly wouldnt recommend running aircon all the time though as fuel consumption goes up significanlty and engine power is less, so going up hills your car will struggle more with A/C on

Everyone one's gone nesh. Wind the window down.

I was thinking that, aircon in the UK? really?
when I was there it was de-mister and remember to replace the wiper blades.
14 years in the Middle East and the only thing I had to worry about regarding the AC was to turn the fucker off when I needed a few more horse power!

That is ridiculous, £90 for an air con recharge?? I would look elsewhere, you shouldn't even be paying half that, there are loads of offers at this time of year at local garages. Most say they come with the bacterial service but you don't need that either on a relatively new car. The refigerant on my Civic typically lasts 2 years and I have it on all the time so that is about normal, it is just one of those things I think.

If it is going after a month then obviously it is definitely a leak or a problem with the electrics. I thought mine needed regassing a few months back but it was a relay that burnt out preventing the compressor getting the signal to kick in which = no air con.

Thanks mate. That's really useful as well. The thing that struck me afterwards is that if the seals had been damaged, then surely they should have been checked and replaced.
