Alan Ball: Did Franny Lee Really Think He Would Bring Trophies?

Random question...who was the under performing striker for City who scored a hatrick in a pre season friendly at Turf Moor?
All I can think of now is Joy Divisions A New Dawn Fades...
Was it lee badbuy?
I remember Preston away pre season a few seasons after when a striker called Mateus vuoso I think scored a hat trick and we thought here we go,then never saw him again.

David Brightwell didn't play. Terry Phelan was at left back.
It was the 2-0 loss in April 94 at the Swamp he played left back. Cuntona scored both. He was exposed for one of the goals by Kanchelskis’ pace and had a bit of torrid time with him.

Before they scored we were probably on top but our high line did us…sounds familiar!

Ball bought Phillips from Exeter after Exeter found money missing dating back to when he was their manager. Phillips was hyped up to cover the fee. I heard this first hand from the Exeter chairman. I’ve no idea if Franny Lee knew if the transfer was a sham to cover up a fraud, but I doubt it.
Shocking if true

I remember a Norwegian guy called Kare Ingebrigsten playing for City, he scored a hat-trick in the FA Cup againt Leicester in 1994, and I'm not sure if he ever scored for City again.

Only made six appearances, 4 in PL and 2 in FAC, (I thought it was a lot more) and that hat-trick represented his only goals for City.

I think that was against Rochdale iirc. Can’t remember him scoring either.

Story to that one was that Keegan would not play him in a competitive game until he could speak fluent English, which he obviously never bothered with.
