Looking for some info if you've been.

Best area for beach and local life eg cafes, bars, culture. Wanna try and avoid bangin tunes and boozy brits but need something going on in the evenings that has a flavour of Portugal.

Beach access has to be flat, can handle a few steps but no mountain paths.

Any help much appreciated Ta.

Yep, agree with everyone else, head for the old town. loads of restaurants and bars and close to the beach. We stayed about 3 miles from there earlier this year and pretty much spent everyday in the old town.

I do the old town twice a year lots of good bars and restaurants also decent beach you cant go wrong .

Casanova restaurant just off the south east corner of the main square (has a Portuguese woman touting outside) has local food and music. Most places seem to focus on typical Western grub though.

as alternatives for beaches, just out of town heading towards Olhos De Agua is beach at
Praia da Balaia, next to Club Med and you can drive down to the beach. Also beach at Pera, one of the largest and a boardwalk all the way to the beach.
