The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. Had such a profound impact on my youth that I’d love to relive that moment of first hearing it.

I bought it from HMV at 9am on the day of release and took it back home and recorded it onto a cassette with the sound off so i didnt hear it. This was a promise i made to my mate Jim as i then picked him up about noon and off we drove in my Escort Mk2 Estate to Glastonbury (£19.a ticket with The Cure and Pyschedelic Furs headlining). We played it all the way down and all weekend.... Using a pencil to rewind it. Listening to There Is A Light.... For the first tine and just knowing that it would be a timeless classic - and it very much still is 33 years on....
