Alcohol, hints, tips, advice etc.

Okay now moved into my third week. Towards the back end of last week I found myself at times feeling extremely fatigued despite having plenty of sleep but investigations seem to show this can happen either early on or a little later as the body continues it's readjustment periods.

I've found keeping hydrated to be extremely important though - much more than before surprisingly.

The main bonus so far despite the obvious health benefits is my sleep. It's surprising now how quickly I seem to be able to relax and fall asleep. Even if I wake during the night sleep is resumed pretty quickly - I hope I haven't jinxed that now. The vivid dreams of the first week or so are pretty much redundant now as things seem to have calmed down and my clarity of thinking is far superior to anything I've had for a significant duration of time.

Still one step at a time.

Anyone doubting the negative effect alcohol has on your body!?

I'll shame myself by putting these photos on of my huge disgusting beer belly
I know I am still overweight and long way to go but can see the weight around the gut from booze

Phenomenal progress since October. Well done mate, keep it up. You must be feeling like a different man.

Taking photos and keeping a record of progress is such a good motivator.
The loss of the puffiness in my face was a mixed blessing for me. Although my face looks thinner, my wrinkles are much more visible But I'll accept the trade off as I feel so much better

That's an amazing transformation. How much were you drinking?

Totally agree it really does help, I've also bought a weighted vest which I use for walking as a reminder, it only weights 5kg though, so it's hard to imagine the strain the extra weight before had on heart and joints
 
Something clicked in my head recently and my drinking has gone right down. Last night I would normally have been out for Wales v Latvia but a combination of money, Croatia just gone and general tiredness meant I stayed in and streamed it on S4C. This morning I woke up clear headed and relaxed.

My recent conversion to vegetarianism has now seen hungover McDonalds breakfasts go along with fried chicken on the way home. It’s doing me very well and, trust me, I like a drink.
