Aldi and booze

Some proper decent stuff in there, which is also pretty cheap.

They do 500ml bottles of Staroslav lager which is a pretty decent czech lager. Then the spirits are cheap but banging too! Their version of Baileys is 5.99 (used to be 4.99) and tastes exactly the same. Same can be said about the cocobay(Malibu) and others. Worth having a look before Christmas.

Not just booze though, most of the stuff in there is quality, people can just be a bit snobby because it is aldi.

You cannot knock the lager at Aldi, the stuff in the bottles is really nice. A lot cheaper, stronger and tastier than the fosters, carling etc. over here

99p for a big bottle is a steal and it really is quite nice. Dont knock it till you have tried it.

This ones pretty nice, seems to sell out quickly though.

Lidl over here do some cracking Aussie and chilean Merlots at 3 euros a pop. The pils they do in big bottles are 4.80 for 6 biggish bottles and do the Job.

Incidentally, 5 supermarkets from the biggest chain here are closing down. (Orphanides) Went into there flagship one today and shelves were bare. Fruit and veg was rank. 17.7 million they've lost this year. People waking up to there rip off prices and going elsewhere. Silly prices.

large pack of plain digestives at 59p and half a chicken cooked in madrass or korma sauce are nice
