For me he wore the shirt and whether he was brilliant or not doesn't matter he looks to be leaving and if he does I wish him well.

But that is just it I do not think he is the best left back ever, but can respect his contribution over the past 7 years and what he has achieved with us.

See post above
Plenty of people seem to have surprisingly little respect for Joe Hart these days and seem to be delighting in his downfall. Personally I don't get that and for me he contributed more to our success over recent years than Kolarov ever did but I don't accuse those people of being spoilt, I just recognise that they have a different opinion of Joe and that for whatever reason, they have not particularly valued his contribution. And that is the essence of this, you suggest I should respect his contribution but I genuinely don't think he has contributed much at all, if anything I think he has held us back, we should have replaced him a few years ago but chose to neglect the left back position.

In fact, I'll go one further. Apart from the level of "heart" shown and willingness to put his head in where feet and elbows are flying, I think he has been a better, faster and more complete full back than Zaba, whom I admire greatly.
Zabaleta was probably the best right back in the country for 2 seasons, possibly 3. Kolarov has never even been the best left back at City and his competition has been Clichy.

Well like you say we see things very differently. Difficult to see how he has held us back so much when we have won the lge twice and he appeared in two successful cup finals. Clearly he contributed in many of those matches and if memory serves me correct was part of the defence which kept a clean sheet against United in the semi and Stoke in the final (probably inspite of him though). You do not achieve all that success if a player has not contributed much or earn the trust of three successive managers including Pep who has played him at centre half over more established players.

Even taking away his 160 plus appearances I would say its difficult not to respect his behaviour off the pitch. Never any trouble, no complaints about rotation etc and seems genuineky well liked around the club and always seems happy to get involved in the online stuff.

You going on about Kolarov, that he should be shown gratitude, when he's been nothing short of rubbish in all his time with us,that's my fucking point

Yes course he has. Rated by three top managers Mancini, Pellers and Pep 60 caps for his country, played for a top 4 prem side for 7 years, played and won two cup finals and two leagues, played for Lazio in Serie A. Yes but he has been rubbish all that time. Hilarious.
