Always thought AK was almost always one of the weaker players in our X1 and now he's a legend? Hmmph

He's no Javi G but legend...I dunno about that.

I'm confused, is kolarov brilliant now?

He's had great games, ok games and Shite games in equal measure. He surprised me and I thought he was a very good center back last season but a pretty average left back, even worse when we played 3 at the back and he was one of the three. Technically very good.

I'd keep him as he can cover lb and cb unless we buy Bertrand and mendy then adios kola and thanks.

Oh and to say he was a more complete full back than zabaletta is pure nonsense.
Why all the hyperbole?

Anyone that cannot see that Kolarov was a better footballer than Zaba is looking through Argie Blue tinted glasses. Love Zaba to death for who he was and what he represented, and I hope he returns as an Ambassador one day because he is loved, but on pure footballing, no way is he better than Kolarov.

And, if City get both Mendy and Bertrand (no chance IMHO), then I would also expect him to leave. Why wouldn't he? Then again, as an over 30 with one more year of top contract wages, I might not be in a hurry to pack my bags!

Excuse me for briefly going off-topic to defend Javi Garcia. His contribution to our successful run-in in 2014 shouldn't be forgotten. Not going to win any running races, but read the game well and was very effective in the air.

When people start simply saying a professional footballer playing for one of the top teams regularly is shit or wank it is time to stop.

For the price he was brought in at, he's been a solid signing for us. Not world class no, but he's largely held his own and has the medals to prove it. In the time he's been here, I can't really think of many obvious standout left backs that have moved around much in Europe or would have become available to us. Players who have been hyped as the next big thing Eg Alberto Moreno have arrived in the country and done nothing. It's also hugely to his credit that he is one of those who was asked to do something completely new under Guardiola and passed with flying colours.

I don't believe he was as good as Zabaleta in his pomp but nor is he the huge liability some are making of out. I have literally no idea why people seem to actually hate him, it's really over the top.

He's clearly well regarded in the dressing room and he's done whatever's been asked of him with good humour when it comes to some of the daft online content. Personally I can take or leave that stuff and i accept it counts for nothing if you're a shite player, but in my eyes it makes him at least a decent club man and makes the vitriol he gets even more baffling.

Im surprised by reports he might be leaving as he can provide decent back up in a couple of positions but if he does I wish him all the best. He's been trusted by three consecutive top class managers so he's clearly not the mug some think he is.

At least we won't have to see his little flick back between his legs when trying to beat his man!

Bit of an enigma, sometimes (mostly at the start of the season) he'd look great and we'd all praise him but then he'd get progressively worse as the season went on.

I wouldn't call him a legend but also doesn't deserve some of the abuse he gets.

All the best to him if he does actually move on this summer.

For me he wore the shirt and whether he was brilliant or not doesn't matter he looks to be leaving and if he does I wish him well.

But that is just it I do not think he is the best left back ever, but can respect his contribution over the past 7 years and what he has achieved with us.

See post above
Plenty of people seem to have surprisingly little respect for Joe Hart these days and seem to be delighting in his downfall. Personally I don't get that and for me he contributed more to our success over recent years than Kolarov ever did but I don't accuse those people of being spoilt, I just recognise that they have a different opinion of Joe and that for whatever reason, they have not particularly valued his contribution. And that is the essence of this, you suggest I should respect his contribution but I genuinely don't think he has contributed much at all, if anything I think he has held us back, we should have replaced him a few years ago but chose to neglect the left back position.

In fact, I'll go one further. Apart from the level of "heart" shown and willingness to put his head in where feet and elbows are flying, I think he has been a better, faster and more complete full back than Zaba, whom I admire greatly.
Zabaleta was probably the best right back in the country for 2 seasons, possibly 3. Kolarov has never even been the best left back at City and his competition has been Clichy.

Well like you say we see things very differently. Difficult to see how he has held us back so much when we have won the lge twice and he appeared in two successful cup finals. Clearly he contributed in many of those matches and if memory serves me correct was part of the defence which kept a clean sheet against United in the semi and Stoke in the final (probably inspite of him though). You do not achieve all that success if a player has not contributed much or earn the trust of three successive managers including Pep who has played him at centre half over more established players.

Even taking away his 160 plus appearances I would say its difficult not to respect his behaviour off the pitch. Never any trouble, no complaints about rotation etc and seems genuineky well liked around the club and always seems happy to get involved in the online stuff.

You going on about Kolarov, that he should be shown gratitude, when he's been nothing short of rubbish in all his time with us,that's my fucking point

Yes course he has. Rated by three top managers Mancini, Pellers and Pep 60 caps for his country, played for a top 4 prem side for 7 years, played and won two cup finals and two leagues, played for Lazio in Serie A. Yes but he has been rubbish all that time. Hilarious.
