Hm, wasn't expecting this. Especially after sort of getting used to him now again as he had a solid season and was a capable cover for LB and CB, too. But if he wants go, then that's it. Bit weird that he's chosen Roma after Lazio, mind...

Honestly a bit surprised. Whatever anyone says I never thought we would sign a centre back as I thought we'd use him, Kompany, Stones and Ota.

Going to be an even bigger turnover if we end up with the new 'keeper, new centre back and 4 new full backs.

But Kolarov isn't very good so if we sign a top player we are only improving.

We'd be improving on him, if we signed Demichelis again.

We actually needed several fullbacks, a keeper & a cb at the end of last season, so it doesn't really change anything.

Top man and a good servant, good luck Mr. Kolarov.

Will be interesting to see who the CB target will be, Boateng?

If all the flappers still actually believe we've not got at least 3 defenders in the bag now they must be nuts. Exciting few days ahead me thinks. Good luck kola. Don't think I've ever sworn at a player so much but liked the bloke and wish him well

Well, atleast we now know from Pep myself that Kolarov, no longer wants to be here....move should happen soon! Looks like we need another defender!;)

Aleksander Kolarov has told Guardiola that he wants to join Roma and Pep says he doesn't like "working with people who don’t want to stay".

"He spoke to me, with the club but especially to me, and said he would like to leave and I don't like to live still with players that don't want to stay.

"That's what it is the best option for everybody, especially for him.

"I wish him all the best because he is a really nice guy. We had an excellent relationship with him, I was very pleased to train him and I wish him and his family the best."

It's a good move for him. Longer contract, league he knows, City he obviously likes - has a few decent restaurants (I hear). Good luck to him. Thanks for all he did for us. It's the right time for Alex to move on.

Mixed feelings about this. Marks the end of another great servant, someone I felt stood up for all the little ball-players we have when the opposition were trying to intimate them. Huge contribution to what success we've had but definitely the right time to move on for the player. He also stood up for himself to the witless pillocks in our crowd who barracked him. It needed doing.

He goes with my thanks and best wishes for the future.

Who says we're definitely signing a new CB? Could end up with Mangala if he has a good pre-season ;-).

Kompany Mangala Otamendi Stones for the 2 positions. Walker Mendy & Danilo for the 2 fullback positions.

Scored our first ever goal in the Champions league, contributed to winning recent trophies. Played great, average and shit at times. I liked him.

Cheers Alex, all the best.

Surprised at Peps words, made it sound like he wanted Kolarov and AK had basically asked to leave which isn't how I thought this transfer would be.

Bit surprised by this to be honest, thought he'd see out his contract as cover at CB and LB. Good luck to him though, he's been a great club servant despite some erratic performances.

Sounds like Bertrand is looking increasingly unlikely, so will we just go into the season with three fullbacks (Walker, Mendy, and Danilo who can cover either side)?!

Might also mean a new CB is now more likely, as he played alot at that position last season....
