Fair enough if people have seen him regular and know he's aint to clever but we only paid 6 mill for Kompany and 6 mill for Zabaleta and they were fairly unheard off.

we'll have to see if its genuine obviously but weve bought a few well know players for big bucks and we know how theyve turned out.

Kompany and Zabaleta were not unknown. Kompany has been one of the hottest defensive properties since he was 18. And Zabaleta was fairly well known as a reliable and versatile performer in la liga. I was very excited when we signed both.

Cerci on the other hand is fairly well known as an italian Jermaine Pennant.....

That's weird! As soon as people who have heard of him, (I will admit i've never once heard of him), described him, Pennant was what came to mind.

I think he is a decent player. But he is not what we are looking for IMO.

This guy can play wide forward or striker. But funny thing is...

We are chasing 30million pound Alexis Sanchez and he snubs us. We go for 7million euro Cerci then?

Doesn't sound good to me. It's like going from world beater players back to the Jo :s etc....

This deal stinks IMO. I hope it will not happen.

Ironically in my opinion he's not as good as Pennant. Mainly cos I probably over-rate Pennant, because he's the only english winger who is capable of beating a man AND delivering a good cross....

Ploy by the club here I think, Udinese try and tap us up for crazy money, we take up our chips and leave, we run a story about how we're going to buy a bargain winger for cheap and won't be messed about, suddenly the valuation of sanchez starts to drop.

Actually I used to sign Vinny on LMA Manger on the PS1 :)

But actually he was linked with Arsenal, Madrid and others, so I watched him in the champions league to see what all the fuss was about, along with Vanden Borre (who turned out to be a bit over hyped).

We seem to have a few on today and yesterday that are allergic to the idea of squad depth.

you've got to look bigger picture. We haven't just gone "well we can't get Sanchez for 30, our backup plan will be Cerci for 5 mil and leave it at that."

with SWP gone and Silva never playing wide, this doubles our wide attacking options from 1 to 2.

We're still going to buy 1 or 2 more midfield attacking players. The squad is thin.

thought it was quality and not numbers was our objectives now. dont wan be rude to the guy but if were goin to push on we need to win the league now like chelsea did make our name in europe then the sanchez's of this world will be choosing us as first choice. the league title is the next big thing for us then move into the european stage
