I think we have to trust Pep in terms of who he wants in which positions. I'm sure that there's a plan for the full back areas. Might just be that we bring in one full back and let one go. My guess would be that Kolarov goes and a LB comes in (unless Pep's got plans for Delph in that position which isn't unthinkable). On the right hand side much depends on how much they rate Maffeo.

Not surprised that the stories are beginning to seep out about who we want. I realise that you're not enthused by the idea of the Ox, but again, it's a case of trusting Pep and Txiki. There's a value in having a core of English players in your side which can't really be quantified. The question is always are they good enough, but that's where the manager comes in. I'm sure he isn't going to be picking players who he doesn't think have the qualities he requires, and equally if he's picking young player he isn't going to be picking ones unless he thinks he can improve them.

Gundogan, Stones, and the Ox would be a quite a start to the summer. Interestingly enough both the Ox and Gundogan have contractual issues which mean that their transfer fees won't be ridiculously inflated.

Fair points mate, I'm not too sure he's that good, if it was me, I'd have bids going straight in on Harry Kane and Delle Ali for an English core.

The Gundogan story is fascinating though, he's a midfielder who can win a battle on his own. I'll never forget the night he ran the show at the Etihad.

By the sounds of it he had a big game in front of Pep which is part of why he wants to sign him.

Money doesn't really matter to me. I said earlier that I think it'd be a deal at around 30 million tops but honestly I could care less if it was 30 or 50. It isn't our money and it's up to the club to decide what valuation they place on players. We should just be grateful we're in a position to buy multiple players whenever we want regardless of cost.

I think he would be an interesting signing. He has not fulfilled the potential I though the had but he only turns 23 at the start of next season so there is still time for him. I wouldn't want to see us pay anything like £30m upfront though. Given his injury record, I'd want a deal that had a fair old chunk of the fee contingent on appearances. Given Mansour's wealth, the transfer fees only matters so much but I would prefer us to demonstrate that we can run every aspect of the club well; which includes not constantly overpaying for players - wealth is not an excuse for wastefulness.

Delle Ali for sure. Can't help think Kane would fail in another squad. Ali though has the lot and it would be something else to see us go for him, snare him and see Pep coach him into one hell of a player.

Well there's no danger of that judging by the number of posts since we've been linked with him calling him wank and not worth the money. As I said to the previous poster though, I'll be taking my cues off Pep as to whether a player is any good or not.

Pep may not even want him as a first on the team sheet option and may see him as a prospect that can be a useful option. Also, we have to recognise that we need a few English players in the squad and therefore they need to be amongst the best England can offer, which Thee Ox may actually be.

It's hard to see us being in for him unless there's a feeling he will play. Part of the issue at Arsenal is that he hasn't had Wenger's trust. Remember that earlier in the season Ramsey and Ozil both played wide right before him. I think if we want him we will have to convince he will play ala Sterling.

In the Gundogan thread Tolmie said Ox's agent is trying to sort a deal. If he's cheap then it's a good shout. Lots of talent, English and young. If he improves his consistency and work rate he'd be a great squad player.
