Our defensive problems stem more from a lack of cohesion and organisation, replacing one LB is unlikely to change much in that regard. We can win the title by outscoring everyone as we did in the 13/14 season, what we need to fix more than anything from last season is throwing away 9 pts against the relegated teams.

Can see this happening in last week of window.Clichy needs time to recover from injury and match fitness, once that happens we try flog kolorov to Italy (last of the eastern block). If there is interest there I think we have laid the foundation down for this lad but it's put on hold due to injury. All hypothetical of course!!!

And signing players has absolutely no guarantee of fixing it & can in fact make it worse, and in fact often does with new defenders. Absolutely no chance that signing this bloke will solve our defensive problems. Decent chance he will add to them, as he's another new boy who has to learn the system.

Would love this signing, really think it's an area we need improvement. I like Kolarov and Clichy but if we are going to play 4-2-3-1 then we need a defensive LB and not an attacking one.

Is the "one step" inevitably loaning out Kolarov to an Italian team for a small loan fee and paying all of the lads wages?

Really, really hope this materializes to be true. He's a good combination of the good qualities in Kola and Clichy and he comes with positional awareness, which is something we lack at LB.
